The Weapon and Scarlet-W cases that come with the packages are MORE then generous, very thought out and nicely put together.Great job Team RED!

So let's talk about the possibility of the Raven case, this should come from a different point of view.
even the people not on reduser that i have showed the new cases too and a few people on reduser have mentioned the possibility of a smaller case.
This camera system seems more going to a run and gun operator or indie filmmaker that really want a smaller case that fits a camera mostly put together, as well something they can travel with in addition to their roll aboard personal suitcase. This could even put the Raven in a class of the traveling Weapon (especially since it doesn't say "weapon" on the camera)

anyway, my suggestions is something close to the deeper briefcase pelican 1500 version or like an exaggerated versions of the epic brain cases.
A laser cutout for the brain and v-lock expander, with removable inserts that when removed can you can fit a side handle, like the unreleased one or the outrigger and even a removable insert to already have a battery attached ready to go. also a little extra room for a base plate like the easy riser from WC, or just a sachtler plate to quickly go onto a tripod.
this might be asking a little much, but maybe a removable insert to even have a small prime or wide zoom attached.

I would also love if the monitor can already be attached too, even if there is a neoprene slip cover over it as well.
then a few cutouts for extra cards and maybe one or two more slim batteries.

I personally think this how most of us would like to go and how most of us may use the camera, in a ready to go state at all times.
This is also how most of us use our second bodies like our 5d's, GH4's, sony A7's, etc
and most of us have sold everything DSLR and went "all in" on the Raven and would love to keep this as a quick, hassle free grab out of the case and capture the image.

I really believe the big rolling case with all of the camera disassembled maybe just wind up in the closet.

Just a big suggestion, but i think this is the right way to go, and could possible be less costly in manufacturing.
maybe something in the vain of the brain cases you guys did with the epics? but even cooler with "raven" splashed across the side.
even on set, walking on and being like that dude has the Raven! before it's even out of the case :)
Thanks for listening!

Any link to see those cases please Jordan? Thanks man :)

Guys, the RED cases are really nice. I got two with my Weapons. And especially nice for RED to include them in package orders as a "thank you" to it's customers. But I'm not a fan of detailed laser-cut foam inserts for specific gear. It just isn't practical. Gear changes. You need different things for different jobs.

Agree with Jordan that for "in town" jobs, it makes sense to have a larger case set up for a camera that is more or less ready to grab and shoot (sans lenses and additional AKS, etc.). It just makes it quicker to get your first shot off in the day, not having to build a camera.

But if you are traveling on a plane somewhere, I'd buy a Pelican 1510 for $175, and outfit with a really nice and flexible divider system By TrekPak
http://trekpak.com/pelican-1510/

They sell extra dividers so you can make up any combination. They hardly take up any space in the case it self, but protect the gear really well. And you can re-configure easily based on the job, the gear you want to pack etc.

Get a case lid organizer for $23 for all your misc. shit and you're done.

And or a lot less than $500.00

Just saying.

I currently have Pelican 1510 with the velcro style foam inserts I would love if some company would make a special cutout version like DJI Ronin case I'm thinking of using the TrekPak as well.

there doesnt seem to be much padding in that trekpack, what are those little red tabs?
i still dont really want to have a rolling case, ever try to get on a plane with two rolling size cases? need a large briefcase to hold the little raven fully built.

For carry on travel I've never had issues with my trusty cinebag backpack. Plenty of room/padding in those to load a raven and other camera gear for run and gun setups. I'll be selling my weapon case to build a more custom weapon case in a 1510 pelican to outfit for all the different third party accessories I purchased. I think the cases provided by red though will be a great solution for a lot of people that need something right out of the gate, especially for rental houses.

If you Google "custom case foam cutting", there area a handful of companies that custom cut foam for cases based on your needs and designs.
yes, innerspace in LA, but just hoping red delivers with a nice situation. innerspace can just alter what they do too. i guess we will see!

Take a look at mycasebuilder.com you can pick the case you want and make a custom foam insert. You can even "trace" a photo of your camera to make a glove like space for it. It takes some time but makes a perfect space.

I got a weapon case for sale. New never used.

I find traveling with me lowe soft carry on case makes it very possibly to fly under the radar of the customs. the last couple of weeks I been flying from EU, to the US to mexico, back to the US, back to EU and then now down to Switzerland from Sweden and back.

They ofcourse stop me and tops all he gear on checkin. But I have done all this traveling without a carnet and I even been stopped in the customs by random takeouts and gone trough without hassle even though i very much should be hassled as I was bringing way mor goods than I was supposed to without a carnet... All I can say is if I would be carrying a pellicase then i would have been stopped and hassled and they would make me pay the fees in customs for sure more than once as the pellicase is a telling sign that says expansive professional equipment, where as having tons of more stuff that fits in a lowe carry on goes as "I´m traveling and bringing my camera.."

So before you buy one of these pelicases to travel think twice you need a carnet t go with it if you cross certain boarders, or they can actually take your camera. A carnet cost about 350USD per trip and is the worst to deal with..

Edit, soon got a weapon case with AC adapter, 4X batteries, Quad charger and XL module for sale.

which lowe case is it?
that wasnt a great sales pitch for you weapon case, but im sure someone will want it!

hopefully 10days out from allocation, still wondering if there is any news on the cases that might come with a pkg :)

i know it said it somewhere, but cant find it on red.com, what are the exterior dimensions of the scarlet-w and raven cases???

Based on the photo of the Scarlet-W package it looks like it is a Nanuk 935
oh nice one, that seems to be definitely it. darn it's a little bit big to travel with your own personal rolling case AND this one, so ill just have to have a secondary for travel, but it seems like a nice case for set. thinking that the raven has much less components then the scarlet, no mounts, no olpfs, i might try to recut things to get a few lenses or batteries in there.
