  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New project...

It seems pretty obvious what the new project is all about. All you gotta do is connect the dots. First, Jim starts his own digital motion picture camera company. Second, he buys a movie studio. Third, he is known to associate with several high powered Hollywood directors. Where could this possibly be going?

Kickstarter for a low budget movie?

as guessing is futile, i'm just glad to hear you're alive and well and excited about something that's best guessed to be awesome. :)

Big budget 'Days of Thunder' remake staring Jim and Jarred. And if not, why not?

Red: The Motion Picture

- The project will be announced to both fanfare and great skepticism
- Will be a full-on summer blockbuster produced for an astoundingly low price of $50,000,000 a full 1/5th the cost of anything even approaching it's quality
- The advertising campaign will be full of jiggle & flash that will simultaneously feed both the supporters and detractors
- A sneak peak trailer will roll out a full year before the announced release date which will build the breathless anticipation
- The final release will slip repeatedly and ultimately the project will be a year behind schedule and will initially have a limited release
- Most will be astounded while the critics harp on the soundtrack's poor audio quality.

Jesse Eisenberg plays Jim? :)

Another thread about projectors sent me back to Jim saying he would make a $10,000 Red Ray compatible 4k laser projector. I would happily pay in advance and wait how ever long it takes to come to market, for that.

new guess.... A legitimate Pied Piper.... doubling down on REDCODE but for streaming.

Others have shared your enthusiasm that redcode could possibly anchor a new consumer platform. But Jim went out of his way to respond the new endeavor is more than a codec.

I will jump into the guessing fray once again with the idea of a possible data compression algorithm for more useful than just video applications.

On a tangent note since Jim seems to be in no hurry to clue us in, on my way to work each day I pass the New Yorker Hotel, which was Nikola Telsa last residence. There is a plaque outside acknowledging his engineering accomplishments. Ocassionly I pause to realize there is a short list of people that have managed to punch thru, defeat the obstacle course, to provide the world at large something more significant than was previously imagined or available . A convenience that we can smugly take for granted.

Before NAB 2006, who really saw the RED ONE coming? Of all the smart industry minds, who called '8 ball in the corner pocket ' regarding RED? Jim has something new that he is personally excited about and considers to have significant fellowman value. It may or maynot be something I personally dig, but at the very least we are guaranteed something significant. Jim's passion is pretty contagious. And it's still a pretty impressive event to watch a company or product levitate above the market space, in a age that we think we'very seen it all.

Really M! I suppose Steve was an alien savant then, that taught Michael and Leonardo all they knew. Lol!

Read my stuff from 2004/2005, even on the original undercover red suggestion thread, and stamp it Red. I suppose Donald trump is also going to do everything he says single handed, without the help of millions of public servants too. So you could even call him a genius. Jim might not even have one genius on staff, but he will likely tell you most everything achieved at Red was from the hard good work of those working under him. Like it is with most companies, even Apple. It is rare for the geniuses to run companies, the greedy people get in the way. But if so, Apple might have archieved 10-100x more in technology advancement than it had. But the silly people get in the road and shoot themselves in the foot (profit).

Supervising Consultant (A law proposal for a new business position I'm working on to handle succession security).

Really M! ..
savant ....

Wayne how far are we away from a real food replicator? I've got a mean set of recipes already in XML format. How do I moderate my expectation? Could such a device be engineered?

On a different tangent, why did Jim say 'time, space, electronic'? Is that considered a cipher?

M?? Be serious. I'm not aiming for a replicator, but I was working towards something else and realised there was a way to do that too eventually (no, I'm not working on a Startek teleporter). Would be fun to work on it one day. You would image (working on for medical imaging) the food and print it out, so to speak.

To do it startrek style might take hundreds of years. It is just that it can be done at all.. The other area of my research turned out to be a lot closer to being able to achieve thsnnI originally thought, not hundreds of years, or 50 years of high end funded research, but way cheaper, maybe decade. So no need to become a billionaire and spend many decades trying to fund it.

We are close...

How close? Months? Summer? Fall? Winter? I am dying to know... I am pathetically checking for updates daily since this post.

Yeah, he'd better hurry... money supply is shrinking. Mine, not the Fed's.

Food replicator already exists but needs a shovel and an operator.
