  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New project...

Good reasoning. If this is the case I'm gonna say that he's found the key to stopping the Asian rampage against wildlife in developing an elixir of potent potentness that will keep even the dourest of libido's more ardent and pronounced than a babies arm with a clenched fist! I know he's into wildlife conservation as people very close to him are on the board with conservation entities. Maybe Jim will be hailed as the guy that found the key to permitting Elephants, Rhino's, Sharks, Bears, Tigers, Pangolins and so many other targeted and invariably endangered species to retain their body parts, and lives, whilst the predominantly Asian drivers of the illegal wildlife trade fall into a prolonged and highly sought after bout of "Me love you long time".

But then again, I may just be stoned....

but did you not think of the flip side that I also may NOT be? Just a ruse to camouflage my somewhat fertile imagination. And yes I do have a son, and he's perfect...

Heh! After initially reading that first statement I discounted the flip side... but as you say, a fertile imagination can resemble being stoned sometimes. Take Wayne for instance, anyone who doesn't know that he has a mind that often redlines at 7000 RPMs might think he is stoned, while in truth he is just high on seeing life as it could be. '-)

As for a Marc Thorpe son, I would expect nothing other than being perfect... especially after surviving the Pirate attack on your wedding. '-)

Mutations can skip generations, that is why grandchildren can look like a grandparent.

7000 rpm, bah humbug, several million rpm. Ahh, those were the days, figuring out and coming up with heaps of world leading computer technoligues (OS, graphics,, software and hardware) during my ER-VOS design days. Now I'm like a chimp, which incidentally I equate normal engineers to sometines. That rpm reminds me of that time I came up with a surround stadium laser projector design that had some high rpm like that, I worked out it was something like 1000th the speed of light. The question is the the wave forces ripping the material apart, and constraining them (hmm, a new solution just occurred to me involving something pretty full proof, (something like this exploding at 1000th the speed of light would be pretty nasty in a stadium)). I originally wanted to make a mechanical display for a projector and I think watch. Really great mind expanding excercise, designing over a 100, mostly new, laser scanning mechanisms. It is not about imagination, that is the spark and the ability, but IT IS about exploring and figuring out mechanisms. Exploring every credible avenue up and down the trees at high speed, using ability to branch and jump branches. Feel the bubbling happening. Every little thing matters in the design, every aspect you can consider. It is tourettes low latent inhibition the dynamically creative part (the only other condition apart from Schizophrenia to be associated with it, but Schizophrenics can't control it properly, limit it) and the specialization categorising filing ability of aspergers (Autism spectrum disorder, is associated with bumps on the folds of the brain, around 100 to a fold. Folds operate as regions of broad specialisation due to isolation from other folds. I hypothesised when this research came out, that the bumps acted as micro regions of specialization/semi specialization, but more open and wired then folds. This seems to fit with the categorising, filing, sorting ability of aspergers). Now ad in neural plasticity, shake, stir, sort out and refine). Bingo, tourettes and aspergers on steroids. But the truth is most people should be able to do at keast some of this through neural platicity and practice. Like wh n I was designing a new low cost hosting construction scheene, a house in 3 days fully finished). I always used to have a hard time visualising houses inside from angles, and how they would look under lighting conditions, but doing several weeks of demo house designs I could then imagine these things in my head. So, you can train yourself. But it is to do with yourbability. Like I can amaze my friend down at the paint shop by picking shades of colors he can't see, and he was doing paint matching every day for years. But I am reasonably sure I could train him to do it, aslong as there is not anything really wrong with his optical path.

Now, every time I meet some big shot, I'm like 'oh yeah, you reckon' and any woman that thinks she is too good for me, like 'if only you knew'. So you can imagine how people around here fair. My American freind (oddly like me) thinks I'm the most confident person he's ever met, I think. But he doesn't know enough about me. But decades of success and mistreatment, get hard and realistic. And know to listen, and have compassion. Realistic new age middle of the road humanism, not the dopey stuff. :)

Space. Travel. Time. Electronics.

Okay...

a watch...which fits into space...and you can travel with it...

Ugh. :frown5:

Hypersonic jet travel? Dragon's 8K senson and great dynamic range could replace glass windows on the front of the craft allowing for less drag.

Someone may have already gone down this road but:

Space.

Travel.

Time.

Electronics.

Commercially viable Lithium nanowire battery? RED is already in the battery market and the just-announced mini V mount batt with it's "sometime in the future" release date could benefit heavily from a new, denser, energy storage chemistry.

Developing a superior chemistry would certainly reduce the space required, enabling more efficient transport of gadgets [travel] not to mention EV's, & run longer [time].

Also, someone's lunch is going to get eaten? How about Tesla, which is HEAVILY invested in Li-Ion (gigafactory) and is already taking flack in the press about building the largest battery factory in the world to produce what's soon going to become a has-been chemistry.

Batteries are so unassuming few people think about them but pretty much all modern tech relies on them [The hint about being for everyone] so cornering the market on a new denser and more reliable tech would be truly world-changing. Also better for the environment!

I'm not sure what "space" has to do with it though. But I agree that new battery technology is a revolution that would change our world in extreme ways. Together with wireless charging, new battery technologies would essentially make cars that wont' need to be manually recharged... ever. It would make our phones last a week on one load but be recharged every time we are in-doors. It would create a true cable-less society where screens, computers, home equipment and so on might not need to be plugged in. Imagine a world where travel is infinite (except for tear down of the car and transport vehicles), no cables, wireless lamps and lights that doesn't need new batteries etc.

The possibilities with new power technologies, with wireless recharge and also if they finally solve fusion energy... it would profoundly change the world in ways that I would even call a new technological renascence. Well, maybe space has to do with wireless power... space between outlet and the electronic device. Otherwise it's about a new electronic propulsion in a Jim-spaceship :tongue_smilie:

I think it'd probably won't have to do with imaging in terms on sensors and cameras as that's why RED was started. Something along the lines of imaging though as that's what Jim's always been involved in with Oakley and RED. Batteries or something to do with energy would definitely be nice. The line about it being for "everyone" rules out the crazy space ship and time travel ideas ... cool, but definitely not for everyone. An invention that is implementable in many different scenarios is my guess.

Modular too. Oakley's are modular. RED's are modular. The inventions quite possibly is modular too with the main bit being for everyone and other add-ons being for a more sophisticated usage.

I love lamp....

I was thinking "space" as in volume - i.e. energy dense batteries would provide higher WH in a smaller, lighter package compared to current gen tech.

Yeah any other revolution in technology is kind of secondary to the methods in which we generate, store, and transport (or transmit) the energy required to USE said technology!

Once anyone is able to manufacturer a Star Trek style Food Replicator, game over.

Electro-temporal robotic vacuum cleaner.
But works within a planet's atmosphere as well.

He, he Hrvoje. :)
