  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New problem...

Rental option

Rental option

I feel the pain, I really do. Everybody want's their camera now. But for those feeling it the worst, consider renting. We were expecting our own camera for our feature shoot, but instead we ended up renting two Red Ones. We shot our film on Red, and that's all that matters. Renting isn't too expensive, so if you're desperate to shoot Red on a particular date, it is an option.

When people said this to me, I got angry. But please don't get angry. You'll get your camera, you'll shoot Red and you'll be happy.

I must say that the honest communication from the RED team as witnessed in this and many other threads here represents a revolution in and of itself. When is the last time you saw this sort of public response from the major camera manufacturers? Way to go guys... Hang in there. The vast majority of us are with you I believe.

Believing in your revolt, supporting it in all ways I know how, and feeling your pain,

Jerry

Sorry, folks, I really feel for you.

This may sound cheap, since I've had my camera for 10 days now, but please remember: I ordered more than a year ago. Even bought a set of second-hand Zeiss primes for a very good price at the time (one of my best investments ever).

Only after shooting a lot of tests with it I can finally say: It ways worth every single day of patience!

Best regards,

Uli

ULI, herzlichen Glückwunsch.....und jetzt mal bisschen Footage bitte :)
Die 10 Tage sind bestimmt wie im Flug vergangen...

edit: in eglish: Hell, enjoy your baby and give us some footy

Disappointing as it is to wait for something I'd rather have yesterday, I have to commend the Red Team for putting quality first. They did know that yet another delay would give new water to the "negative forces", but still they stuck to their original promise.

Thank you for that.

The manner in which Jim and the Red Team conducts business and handles themselves makes me feel only one thing: RESPECT.

"New" new problem

"New" new problem

OK, we all got the concept for Red camera fulfilment. So how are you going to handle all the old lens orders in relation to date of purchase, date of camera purchase, or what? My 18-85's were originally assigned mid 200 numbers. Through no fault of mine, they fell down to the mid-400's. That order was 18+ months ago. My order for the primes went in about the time they were announced. It sounds to me that if Red is consistent in its policies, the lenses will be delivered in order of the date the camera was paid for/shipped. If this is/will be the case, then why put a deposit on the lenses now? Red is not issuing placement numbers for prime set orders. Why not just wait until Red announces availability and place your order then? It’s clear that there is no reward for early payment unless I’m missing something.

OTHER: to all of you who are bitching about delays in getting your camera, it took two months for Red to straighten out my order(s). I kept falling further and further behind since my cameras were in the mid 1,200's and only a week or so ago were the billing issues resolved. Once management got involved, my order was handled in a professional manner and the errors of prior order computations were resolved. At no time did I ever think that Red was trying to scam me (us) or that it was anything other than backroom procedures not being in place, poor staff training, etc. Except for some warranty issues, Red is doing its best to be exceedingly generous, fair and egalitarian in dealing with customers. Please, no more petty complaints.

Tail Ends

Hi Jim, thanks to explain to us what's happening, and I understand very well the priority of the early buyers.
I would like, when it will be possible, to have an update of the shipping schedule of the numbers which are supposed to be delivered in 2008.
I've already got my RED ONE # 905, and waiting for 3 more numbered around #4000.....
I will start to reschedule my projects for the end of 2008, I really do appreciate the way you handle things at RED, and the wonderful work you are doing.

My regards

I cannot predict that. What I can say, as soon as we know something, Big Jon posts it so there is no latency between us having an update and you reading it.

will the old primes (RED ONE'S PL) be compatible with the SCARLET & EPIC lenses

Huh?!? Strange question... Didn't you notice the fact Scarlet doesn't have interchangeable lenses? SCARLET = FIXED (zoom) LENS...

Regarding the EPIC, it's gonna have a PL mount, like the Red One; so, yes, of course, the future "old primes" will be compatible with EPIC, as well as any other PL mount camera... :)

Cheers,

Arkham

Good news everyone... We are almost caught up :)
