  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New problem...

I went into my local Apple Store the other day to buy some gear, and the bloke who served me was one of the people who is suffering this latest delay. The surprise to me was not the delay, but that you can bump into other Red Users in the high street - in Perth, Australia. Anyway, he didn't seem too bothered. I remember the pain of waiting for the camera, but it's all worthwhile. We've wrapped our feature, and it just looks amazing.

Red being popular is not a problem by any stretch of the imagination, but I send out feelings of solidarity for those who feel the delay.

REDDERY may someday replace Masonry... If we only had a cool ring and secret handshake.:usd:

...A zillion RED-eyed zombies, battling down your HQ with rams and screaming:

"We want RED! We want RED!"

:).

Success can't be easy...

I'm sympathetic with your hardships.

Lol.

jim my birthday is in july, 23th... make me a present. you guys rock...
no problem to wait....i know now how women feel when they are pregnant...thanks for this experience too :)

To Jim: I'm #1582, so I guess this affects me. So just to be clear about this "problem"... it's cool with me. You have always been more then forthcoming and fair.

To those Red Users that chose the option to "pass": :bleh: you also forfeited some "rights"... :whistling: so don't expect to IMMEDIATELY jump to front of the line. :bleh: Because, and correct me if I'm wrong, Red has "30 days to work you back into the queue" to also be fair to the current reservation holders.:sarcasm:

The red team has a logistical balancing act to deal with; so my hats off to all of you.

I'll patiently wait for my turn on getting the ultimate digital cinema camera on this planet: Red #1582 (okay, well... one of the many ultimate digital cinema cameras).

I'm with Jason on this one. It seems to me that those whoever sends their money in first, should get their camera first. Those early reservation holders are still in a good position, as they should be getting their cameras soon (but again, not before someone who has truly made the commitment and paid the full amount.) Just my 2 cents.

It's not an issue for me because I just got mine - and it was worth the wait! Props to Brian Byrne for expediting the process attentively - as well as making it fun.

Happy to be in line!!

For those of us even further down the line I'm #3002 if reservation holders don't pay when it's time, elect to wait, that's fine and it's great that they have the option to do so, but please be ready if you really want your camera with your money to help move things along and not put the RED Team in a position to have to put those further down the line back further. If you don't have the money ready when RED is ready then please don't complain if it takes awhile for you to get your camera. It's your own fault and not the RED Team.

Waiting patiently, I'll be ready whenever it does come. Thankful for the opportunity to be able to buy one.

As posted in a few other places, people get delivered in order of payment within a delivery group. People who elect to wait (ie, over 30 days) on taking delivery, RED's policy is to work them back into the rotation within (30) days from the time you pay. Hence, the reason for the delay is we had a bunch of older reservation holders pay up about a month ago, causing a logjam now.

Don't worry, guys, no line jumping. The delay is equally frustrating to us - and we are working around the clock to reduce the logjam as quickly as possible.

I'm waiting for mine to ship too...

My # came up a couple weeks before NAB, I figured I'd wait until after the show so I could make a few final decisions. After seeing everything at NAB this year, I knew in the back of my mind this was going to happen.

NAB was a deciding factor for many, those who were on the fence are jumping in if they have the budget. The new lenses coming from RED look awesome. I already have a Cooke 18-100 zoom and love that lens, but I still can't get over the RED 18-85, that thing is tight! NAB was the first chance I've had to put my eye up to a functional RED EVF. It's a no-brainer purchase, it rocks hard. Anyone who doesn't have the EVF figured into their order is screwing up.

I've waited this long, I can wait a bit longer... The anticipation and anxiety may kill me, but I think I can manage. :)

A big thanks to Randy and Kelly who put up with all my emails getting my order straightened out!

Jim:

I really think this isn't fair, some of us paid before NAB, even though these guys have an earlier reservation our money entered before them, they should wait a reasonable period of time (may be 30 days) to reinsert their order to the production flow and that way you don't delay others.

Thats just my opinion.

Eduardo

Understood Eduardo, its something we didn't plan for, but we made the commitment and need to uphold it. I apologize for the situation we put you ( and others) in, and are doing our best to fix.

We will adjust our schedule accordingly to account for the setback.. Big Jon will give an update soon.

I can't pretend to be happy right now, but I understand. I would have appreciated a little more communication about the situation. All it would have taken was an email telling me whats up. I've now had to rent for 3 jobs, and pass on one because I haven't been able to provide my red. Not to mention the financial stress of handing over $30k along with paying taxes all within a week of itself. I'm feeling a little burned. Love you guys, but this is the rough spot in the marriage.

There's a post over at the Creative Cow Red Forum by Michael Gleissner pretty much accusing Red of fraud over this issue. Personally, I'd exercise JJ's disclaimer and never sell him a camera.

Steve Wargo also chimed in the thread accusing Red of being unethical.

I call again for a owners/professional users only forum. I don't want to sift through fan-boy madness or clueless Red-bashers for the information we want to share.

Sometimes the internet really sucks...

Good shooting and best regards to all... well, to most.

Hi
What i ve learned in 3 months in red forum is never expect a delivery date even never ask for it:) But i have to know. So what is your estimation for no 4028?

ergin

OK, here's the deal. From day one, we have been placed in the position of forecasting a delivery schedule. We've done this because you, the customer, have requested the information to plan, schedule and anticipate the day you can put this camera to work (even though we have said time and time again don't schedule a project until your camera is in hand).

In the last 30 days, we have learned that our projections can not keep up with the real world unpredictability of events. Reservation holders who have skipped their early delivery are now stepping up to collect their cameras, placing a high demand on production. We've experienced parts supply shortfalls for the RED One, as well. We did everything possible to prevent a disruption in the forecasted schedule, but now have to stop, catch up and take care of our customers that have sent in their payments.

To continue to disappoint our customers is unacceptable. We need to set realistic expectations for future deliveries, as we now understand that the process of bringing the RED One to market and all its fulfillment requirements are beyond what even we realized. I have posted a new delivery schedule on my sticky at: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7464. It is conservative on purpose. It is still an estimate, but it is an estimate that we feel reflects the lessons learned over the last 4 months.

As Jim has stated at the beginning of this thread, this is painful. It is not about money, not about a scam, not about anything other than our failure at being able to see into a crystal ball. We are asking for you to wait and to understand. If you have paid and can't wait, say the word and the money is back in your hands. Know that every effort is being made to meet the demand and to assure the ultimate satisfaction in the product.

It's too bad that you guys are falling back on the delivery schedule again. I should have had my camera by now. Three weeks fully paid. I don't want my money back. I just want my camera. I would hope you guys aren't looking into a crystal ball to determine the delivery schedule, quite disappointing, nonetheless I wait for my camera to arrive.

Well, SOME of us have the super secret serial-numbered titanium R's . . . . a very exclusive club.

Elitist!

(By the way... do you guys have a secret handshake?)

.

To continue to disappoint our customers is unacceptable. .

This is really too much JON .it is too much 2 months of catching up

i know it is your Land and your Kingdom here .

But i think

Those people don't have the full rights when they need to delvir thier cameras

as they want .they should wait like us
why you are stopping production for the rest of us who has the willing and

commiting with red daily ..

make it Slower But dont stop it please .

we have a problem.

At NAB we got a huge number that decided (all of a sudden) to take them. Since we are obligated to deliver when a reservation holder "is ready" it has put us in a delivery bind. We had not expected such a rush of older reservation holders.

Within the last batchs you were delviring around 500 / month

you Only reached to 1500 units out there ??

how many actuall camera were in real world delivered in those monthes

befor ?? i know it is not right to ask this question but i am wondering ?

because you are saying that there is too much reservation holders were

binding their deleviers and now they accepted it ?

that means for this 2 months of catching up you have a huge numbers of

reservation holders (more than 500 or more ) requiring thier cameras now

so how is the equasion look like ?? i couldn't understand it
