  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New problem...

make it Slower But dont stop it please .

Deliveries will never stop Bassam. We are just behind. We have collected funds from more people than we currently have cameras to fulfill. It is the worst fear realized. As soon as those cameras have been shipped, we can move on to the next batch. It is my fervent wish that we no longer have to push the schedule back again and that is the motivation for taking a realistic approach, as hard as the words are to hear. Nothing will make me happier than to update the schedule with news that we are ahead of schedule. I think that's where we would all like to be.

I call again for a owners/professional users only forum. I don't want to sift through fan-boy madness or clueless Red-bashers for the information we want to share.

I would like to second this request. A PRO forum for RED owners only.

I am not an owner myself, so I would only be able to read.
But I would love to continue to read funded information from people like Graeme, Mark, Daniel, Steve, Shawn, Ian and all the others who have the so valuable hands-on experience.

If a non-owner posts something interesting and valuable, it the post could be moved to the Pro-forum, where he/she would get access to this his/her one post only.

This forum used to be incredible informative. Almost every post was worth reading. That was unique and is now lost a bit.

@Big Jon
In part 5. of your "The Delivery Schedule" post, you write, that one can apply projects to the future part of the red.com via email. I did that, but I did not hear a feedback. I understand that this is the future, and that there are more important problems to be solved, but still, I wonder how far this future lies ... :-D

What the .... ! My camera just got pushed back another two months.

I'm seriously considering not getting it now. All the jobs I had planned (conservatively I might add as I was told "beginning of march" when I ordered before IBC 07) will not be possible with this new schedule.

You have absolutely NO idea how depressed I am now.

Hiatus here I come.

i am sorry but how you can explain it the last estimated schedule was suppose to be for cameras for 1750-2000 this month

and upper 2000 mid may

now you are telling that

1501-1750 begin shipping in April, through May
1751-2000 begin shipping in June
2001-2400 begin shipping in July
2401-2900 begin shipping in August
2901-3400 begin shipping in September
3401-3900 begin shipping in October
4001-4400 begin shipping in November (current orders)

1501-1750 late month
1751-2000 another month
2000-2400 2 months late and so on ??

is that not too much ??

i don't have urgent shooting plans but i have commite with too much thing and

Plans it will be disaster for me this late ??

Why not just put the one's you like on your buddy list? Then block those posters who don't meet the standards of some, like Leo? There are many tools at one's disposal on REDuser.net, but you gotta look for them.

"2001-2400 begin shipping in July"

WOW!!!

Started at a March delivery and pushed to July! Guys, I want my camera as badly as everyone else and just last week it was end of May for my batch! This is just unfortunate and as much as I want to be on your side and support you, at the end of almost each day now, its getting harder and harder. I appreciate your communication and your hard work but somehow, I can't help but be disappointed and wonder come July what kind of setbacks we will have to encounter.
Gotta wonder why you wouldn't be ahead in deliveries in the previous months if a large portion of early res holders didn't place their money down?

Don't take this email the wrong way, I understand how difficult this must be for a startup and want to still encourage you in a positive light, but I can't help but to be disappointed and upset.

Someone who knows how, please put up a poll for "upset", "upset but it is what it is", "no biggie", "no biggie, I have my camera already", or "how do order one?"

I am preying to the gods that my camera ships before the feature its linked to decides to go into production. Best of Luck, trying to be patient here...going to pay in full now and stand by.

Yes, it is too much. It is not what we had planned. It is not what we want. It is not pleasant for you, for us, for anyone. But it is reality. The only way that a delivery schedule could be set in stone would be for us to build and test and pass 5000 cameras, then begin distribution. It was not our plan to fall behind. It was not our plan to disappoint. It was the reason we have always referred to the schedule as a "best guess" and not a guaranty.

Shipping before orders?:)

I guess placing an order for a Red One or waiting for Scarlet just got to be a lot closer in time frames. Damn and I was hoping to place an order and get a camera before fall ended.

AS JON SAID

We are currently shipping to all customers who have sent in payment and we are not reaching out to the next batch without first satisfying customers of paid cameras. We will take the month of May to fulfill those paid orders.

why you not just split those delayed customer and divide thier orders on

current delivery schedules as example 100 each month so they will not

strongly affect us

Many customers have, in good faith, sent in payment and our supply simply cannot keep up with the current demand.

you can tell those customer they must wait . i know your policy and

commitment with those customers But you have to commit with us too

or they have this option

. If you have paid and can't wait, say the word and the money is back in your hands

as you keep reminding us from time to time

If there is anyone who is not happy with the delivery setback, and especially anyone that has planned shoots conservatively and now won't get their cameras in time, what would be the situation regarding refund of deposit? If a bunch of reservation holders did back out and got a refund that would move those that want to stay on a bit higher up the list.
Or is the deposit non-refundable?
Steve

WHY???

OK. We are all dissapointed, that the schedule has been pushed back.

However, I think RED is doing the only right, to fullfill paid orders, as the people who has paid in full are REALLY the ONLY one's who could be dissapointed. Schedule has always been a guess and subject to change, and pushed back due to demand.

I don't see how RED could avoid this, more than to build a poor camera...

501-1000 begin shipping in February
1001-1500 begin shipping in March
1501-1750 begin shipping in April, through May
1751-2000 begin shipping in June
2001-2400 begin shipping in July
2401-2900 begin shipping in August
2901-3400 begin shipping in September
3401-3900 begin shipping in October
4001-4400 begin shipping in November (current orders)

thnx for the update Jon !

What about putting a web-cam in the production assembly room? Then redusers will have something to pass their time jealously watching Red cameras being built for other users and they can also count down to their camera. :)

Just kidding on that one!

Can you imagine? We would have dozens of new threads with titles like, "Do they really have to have breaks?"... or... "So-and-so was late to work again!" :)
