  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New PL prime sets and zooms prices

And the lenses that I and Laguun are talking about are in fact the same. And I never said where they come from and who makes them, so I would suggest editing the first post to correct this.

And Abel will have these AS WELL AS OTHERS at our booth next week. See you all there.

Mitch,

corrected.

I think Duclos was saying likely under $3000 USD

$8700 more than the stock lens just for manual aperture control? Does it also clean my house and bake a mean lasagna?!?!

Hi Lee,

Modern cinema converted PL lenses are expensive and not for everyone. If you work on high level projects, you need to bring top notch gear and you are paid for it accordingly.

I'm not saying it's not painful for me to write the big checks, but when I look back over what was made in rentals, it confirms that at least for my needs and market I'm on the right path. Your results may vary.

I had a set of 5 in my hands at RED.

Sweet! Thanks Mark. And it is very nice to see SJ updating the list, thanks! I was getting irritated trying to keep up with all this stuff.

To quote Larry Bird from an All-Star 3 point contest... "all you guys are playing for second..." :-)

Jim

Muahahaha... err... great to know kind sir. I believe you. Can't wait to hear about the roll out speed! :yikes:

Mitch... why not bring a sample of each to the Reduser party on Wed so we can help our customers really see how they all compare in optical and mechanical quality. :-)

Jim
looool :couch: you cannot hide yourself.. you're somehow a rebel

edit
be careful w/ your posts or someone will put the gang's label (medal.. medal) on you..

Thanks for the list, Sanjin! One thing I would change is this statement:

- RED Pro Primes set of 5 lenses (RED design/Sigma based glass and production, 5K sensor circle) priced about USD 20.000.

Every time anyone has brought up the "RED lenses are actually made by Sigma" theory, it gets shot down by the people at RED.

Even if it's true that they are made by Sigma, this hasn't been confirmed, so it should probably just say "designed in the USA, made in Japan" instead.

Nothing against Sigma. They actually make some really good modern lenses now. It just reads on this list as fact, when it's being explicitly denied by Mr. Jannard himself:

http://reduser.net/forum/showpost.php?p=403669&postcount=135

Anyway, thanks for the list! It's great having all this info here in one place.

I'm quite over this notion being carried along. RPPs are NOT made by Sigma, do NOT use Sigma glass and do NOT have one piece made by Sigma. This comes up again and I'm likely to get irritated. Nothing wrong with Sigma... just that they have nothing to do with RPPs.

Jim

Sorry Jim,

corrected .

I think it started because people were saying that because the glass design inside the lens almost matched one of Sigma's. Add snowball effect and you have an internet made "fact".

Hi,

The 18-50 & 50-150 match Sigma still lenses. Note that Jim was referring to the Red Prime lenses when denying any connection to Sigma.

Clarification of Illumina Super 35 and Super 16 lenses

Clarification of Illumina Super 35 and Super 16 lenses

Please note:

The Illumina Super 35mm lenses (18,25,35,50,85) will be sold as a set for $32,5000. There is no set of three lenses in the Illumina series. These lenses are all T1.3. There is a NAB show special offer (PM me for this discount) for reservations accompanied by a 10% deposit. Delivery if the S35's begin Sept.

The Illumina Super 16mm lenses (8,9.5,16,25,50) used to be called "Optar" Illuminas. They are now back in full production and complete sets are available NOW. Price for this set of T1.3's is $16,900. If anyone wants to purchase the NAB show demo set they will get a hefty discount (pm me).

I hope this clarifies the real situation.

We are a dealer for the Illumina lenses based in Hollywood.

Now that the show has started, I can mention that you should add UniQoptics to the list. A complete set of low cost, high, high quality T1.9 primes.

That sounds great but there's no info or pics to be found anywhere. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE REPORT A LITTLE!!!

Fujinon and Uniqoptics for example. I've seen the specs on Fujinon but is interested what the deal is with the entire range, since it's a VERY interesting T stop mentioned. AND estimated prices are also welcome. :sifone:
