I can't help but feel that this doesnt do the Epic or the MX justice. Was this the first project shot on Epic? Did you shoot anything else with it since?
Maybe it's the effects or the lack of different locations.

Thats pretty harsh criticism dude. If you took the time to look at some of the other videos in the Vimeo account youd notice there are a few RED videos.

Looks good to Me James.

I agree, this looks good. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but i would say that this criticism is a bit harsh and doesn't help the discussion of the work done.

I think it looks pretty darn good! I just don't like the fake anamorphic flare.. Just over used.. Other than that it was shot really really well!! Great lighting, great colors.. I think Mohamad is entilited this bad opinion though.. ;-)

Great job dude and thanks for posting it!!

I really didnt mean to be rude. I just shot some footage on the Epic and this is so much better. My footage doesn't even compare to this tbh. I was just judging based on the other clips I watched on here ( Rihanna, Britney ). A lot of the factors that helped making the other clips superior ( IMO ) were budget based. I still think the effects and the lack of locations did not help showcase the Epic's capabilities. Again really sorry. I wish I could take it back and maybe worded my criticism better. I would be pissed off if someone commented on my work the way I did. I watched some other videos though and I really like the Max Factor ad and the Don't Stop video. If I can be completely honest I think it was the cheesy music and lousy singer that threw me off and made me dislike the video. ( I really hope you have nothing to do with the music )

Maybe that was the grading and therefore the look he was looking for....

Looks great to me James, the blacks on the opening dress are awesome, nice clean work mate ;)

I see what you're saying, Mohamed. I think it looks a little flat. It's mostly the undynamic locations and some of the lighting seems a little flat too.

James is a very good cinematographer. The subject Natalie Bassingthwaighte is a very well known artist in Australia, the song maybe crap, but James defiantely NOT. I make a lot of music videos also and the usual budget even for a really top artist in somewhere between $10-$20K. I think James has done well with a very limited budget.

And the streak filter look is very in at the moment. I used it on a band a few months ago called Tonight Alive for Sony Music.

Good work James, keep it up.

exactly, the footage you posted looks so much better
:)
:yesnod:

I dont think me going out with my camera for the very first time on the streets with no equipment whatsoever taking some random shots can be compared with a full production. I know you weren't comparing though. You just think I'm an asshole for what I said and decided to defend the Op because the internet does need more white knights.
