  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Movcam DSMC2 accessories - power-display-audio

Whats the deal with the piggy back V-Mount? I don't get it.

EDIT: Ah it seems "Hotswap" is the magic word. Or is there something else?

Looks like the plate covers the D-tap input on the Base I/O V-lock. this extra v lock things seems to help with that as well.. and also seems likes its their way of transforming V-lock into AB if you desire..

VERY VERY INTERESTED IN THE PRICE OF THESE ITEMS PLZ AND TY!

It also helps with large batteries which don't seem to fit in the expander.

Love the slim baseplate. Reckon you could get the v-mount on it's own or do you need the top plate to lock it on?

Nice concept. Tilta usually does even better than Movcam (their Alexa Mini system is the best right now imo), so I'm interested to see what will they come up with in response.

SmallRig is interesting too. While they currently don't have any products for Weapon they seem motivated and interested to compete at a lower cost point than the traditional players. I have some of their gear and it's great quality for the price. Had a FB conversation with them about coming up with products similar to WC and Movcam and they gladly took my suggestions. I am a huge fan of WC gear as well and have their full cage kit on my 1DC. Their bottom plate with 15mm rod support for RED Weapon cameras is fantastic for the price.

Nice to see some options are finally coming for weapon top plates. Wonder who's gonna ship first.

I like the overall design and the placement of the EVF port on the side. If they sized one of these to match up with a Revolt expander on the camera it would make jumpering up to the SDI in unnecessary and then maybe replace those BNCs with other power options... Overall, I think this is my favorite top plate so far.

Like the idea of designing a Redvolt expander option.

My go to module.

I'm kind of interested in the base-plate. though it suspiciously looks like a product that actionproducts teased a few months ago...

it seams to go on a dovetail but where is the locking mechnism? Also Actionproducts had a 19mm BP that slipped on? Does Movcam?

I have never bought Movcam stuff... who are they?.. is it cheap copies or do they innovate? Will their electronics be properly tested (time domain analysis, impedance bumps etc etc cable stuff I don't understand?)

thoughts?... thanks

Chinese brand, pretty solid stuff though for sure, but yeah, there's things missing in those pics for sure

I've used movcam gear for several Sony packages, still have one for the a7sII. It actually isn't cheap knock off crap. It's actually really good, innovative gear. It's upper-middle range gear for lower-middle range prices. Genuinely solid stuff that doesn't break. I'm definitely going to be ordering this rig/expansion pack for the Raven. Just waiting for them to announce the price. But my guess is around $1000

3rd parties are creating some really great accessories for DSMC2 cameras. This is the first top plate that passes through the LCD pins, nice! I also like Offhollywood's because they expose the LCD pins by not covering the pins.

I wish someone would come up with a nato rail for the top handle that still allowed the record button to function!

Has anyone heard anything out of NAB about these? I saw this yesterday https://www.instagram.com/p/BEJMUSFLxxa/, looks to be a slightly updated version compared to the pictures posted earlier. Based on this render it looks like it can be configured without a RED I/O module. I'm super late to the game, placing my preorder for Scarlet-W this week, but I'm trying to decide if I should order Brain only or the V-Lock I/O package.
