  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Movcam DSMC2 accessories - power-display-audio

First of all I am so happy that Arri has started making AKS for Red.

Also has anyone at NAB seen the TILTA accessories for the Weapon?

I checked out the Tilta booth and the Weapon cage. It's incredible. It really turns the Weapon form factor into something a little more traditional, plus it has more I/O than you could ever use. I will definitely get it for jobs requiring a more beastly build, when I can spare $3000

im interested in that side mount covering the side pogo.
hopefully WC comes up with something like this that coincides with there pogo to pogo cable.

So where does this movecam top plate get the sdi feed from?

Love the change in the hotswap design, just hoping it will work in different configurations (i.e. still allow a base expander to live behind it), as it appears to feed the top plate with power via p-tap. Also seems like the top plate is converting SDI/HDMI from the pogo connectors on the body. Somehow doubt it will allow independent SDI feeds with different looks/outputs. Looking forward to a more thorough data sheet, as it does provide a pretty compelling form factor. Just want to make sure other potential necessities like CTRL and SYNC are covered, especially if it is going to play nicely with RT Motion/Latitude. Curious about price point too.

The only question is whether the hotswap module + V-mount plate will be cheaper than an offholywood V-mount plate with built in hotswap-ability.

My ideal module is the DSMC2 Base V-Lock battery module but with hotswap power. Obviously going to have to engineer that from other options.

it looks like really thoughtful helpful stuff ... Hopefully there is a 15mm top bar solution for the new Red EVF.

What is problematic is that most Redusers will wait for a Rip of company to copy the arri products (some are really impressively quick at it) and buy from there...

Poor accessories is the single biggest propblem for us with Red products!

PS talking about solid good products... I just got the weapon ET battery plate and it is great!..

Bumping this topic since this is probably the top plate I want the most... Hopefully we get some more details soon. Looks like it's listed on Adorama now, a bit spendy at $1700 (far more than Wooden Cameras), but there are so many features packed into this thing! If they pull off all of it, without little jumper cables (like Tilta's SDI splitter), it might be worth the price tag.

Hmm... I'm really hoping to see some official details soon because this, too, is my current favorite solution. I love the hot-swap back and the I/O top plate.

The Movcam baseplate for my Pocket Cinema camera fits my Arri dovetails. Is this one different?

I found a pdf/photo with the individual pricing breakdown from the Studio and Base Kit (however pricing seems outdated).

Here are some current links for the BaseKit:

For the StudioKit:

Hmmm!

As Josh mentioned the multifunctional top plate is a heafty $1700+ spend:

Why do the images show the top plate being $1290? Hmm... I hope it's closer to that price, $1700 is definitely a high price tag.

Sure wish Movcam was able to use standard Arri dovetails.

It isn't Arri dovetail? Or what makes it non-standard? Might have to go with a different baseplate if that's the case.
