New MacPro when Snow Leopard is released -

though it would be nice if someone told them about DDR3... I mean get a !#@$ing clue..

What do you mean? Both the Mac Pro/MacBook Pro offer DDR3 Memory.

They goofed with the latest MacBookPro models and hopefully they got the message in the many magazines and forums that the models should have more to be really pro! For example USB3, more RAM, better CPU, Bluray writer, ExpressCard slot! Especially the latter is important for eSATA drives and RedRocket.

ExpressCard should be there of course, Blu-Ray would be nice, but USB3? The spec was only finished a few months abo... There is all of one or two USB3 chipsets available at the moment (NEC makes one of them if I remember correctly), the only operating system that supports the protocol is Linux, and there are no devices for it... USB3 won't be useful for two or three years at least.

DDR2 gives you the most benefits when using a number of sticks in multiples of two, that is why most motherboards used to have 2 or 4 DIMMs. Now with DDR3 the most benefit comes in sets of three, and that is why we see motherboards with 3 or 6 DIMMs.

These can overclock a bit, on top of what they already do.
