Aside from the "shooting the messenger" comments, I would like to end my remarks as follows:

1. Ted commented Friday that he had been receiving complaints everyday, including calls to his home. Sending Ted another email to be added to the long list he receives every day would not have been productive. I thought for over 24 hours before I posted to the Red forum. I have no regrets for doing so if if results in better operations for all of us;

2. For some of you, English is not a first language. If you re-read what I said, my objection is not with the Red camera, my objection is with management developing NEW products, not Reds, while not addressing their back-room problems.

3. My net worth or the extent of my business experience is not important to my posting. Let's just say that I'm not inexperienced in the business world. That being said, I am pleased, like so many of you, that Red is so successful. But apparently unlike some of you, I don't own any stock in Red. I wish Red all the best as so many of you do. That does not diminish my comments that Red could be doing a lot better in taking care of customers who have shown good faith in depositing funds with Red only to experience repeated delays due to poor back room management. For all of you who have not received their Reds yet, what's more important to you, receiving your Red camera or the success of Scarlet?

4. Some of you responded that you were at the NAB DP seminars on Friday. If you continued to attend both on Saturday and Sunday, it is clearly obvious that many people are threatened by Red, from competitive vendors to older DP's who still look at film to be the only true medium. Comments by some, including panelists, were truly icy. I am pleased, as I have posted in the past, that there is such grass roots enthusiasm for Red, not only in the product, but the tremendous amount of time so many of you have taken to give advise to the company as well as other Red users.

I will be at the Red booth tomorrow and I'll introduce myself to management and we'll see what happens.

Now you can close the thread.

Having had my share of issues with the "operations" end of Red, I felt what you were saying with your first post - but also suspected and anticipated Jim's response as an accurate assessment of the realities Red is facing.

I can imagine it irritates people at Red when their efforts are second guessed.

On the other hand, I'm about to lose fingers to hold up for how many times something has had to be fixed regarding my order and have yet to ever receive an apology or acknowledgement that a mistake was made.

So, I propose that perhaps the Red-as-new-company thing is an easier pill to swallow with a bit more humbleness.

When the tax on my order was mysteriously miscalculated in Red's favor - just correcting the math isn't as helpful as a quick apology and correction. I guess I'll spare you my other examples - because, in the end, I'm quite happy with my camera and I presume everything will come together for Red once the largest professional motion picture camera roll-out in history is behind them.

I've been waiting for 2 months for crucial gear that didn't show up with my RED camera. This is gear for $1500 that they haven't been able to give me because of backorder? ...and I'm stuck with gaffer tape to make it work :waaa:

How should I sit back as a customer and feel - Ohhh they're probably busy with NAB.

I agree with you that there's an issue with customers service. Not that they're not nice and most often try to help, although I haven't heard from them for 2 weeks, but because it's clearly to small for a production of this size.

What will happen when the cameras break, because they will, they're after all only computers?

Kind regards,

Fredrik Callinggard

I think your original post had some valid points but the timing was really bad. Nobody from RED would be patient enough to answer constructively when all they want now is the best possible exposure during the NAB period.

Also, the dictating tone of the post (RED needs this, RED needs that.) combined with the fact that you don't post with your real name, was asking for trouble. It has happened again...

As i am in the waiting list too (i have already paid for the camera 10 days ago) and have no idea when i will receive it and what accessories will ship with it, i can understand what you were describing. The development of all those products when they have difficulty shipping the existing ones can easily raise concerns.

I am 768 owner in HKG and I 've been through you guys matters of No Ideas what to do for the critical moment.

RED can make you happy may be not on your 1st expected day !!!

I received my RED one just on the 1st day @HKFilmart 2008, and I called / sent emails on the Reduser.net in any possible channels to send out my SOS !!!

IN CHINESE Culture, When the ship nearly to park the pier then the ship will automatically go straight without any GPS or physical human control.

After all, even I am a CHINESE from HKG to believe RED one back in 2006.
Why all those late believers so unpatient !!!

Relax and enjoy the RED tent @NAB, and I am so busy with my RED one in HKG for 1.5+ billion CHINESE People alone in the world.

Cheers,
