  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

new mac pro maxed out running Davinci with Epic & Dragon

Exactly. Swap out the proxies at the end and then do the rendering that way. Otherwise, almost any machine is just going to choke.

We'll eventually get to the point where dealing with 4K/5K/6K is trivial, but we're not there yet. And the file sizes aren't getting smaller, just as the file transfer/backup times aren't getting any shorter.

Hello Mark,

Aren t you affraid some gamma shift could occur?

Not if it's done correctly. Check the files and see. At the worst, you could create the proxy files within Resolve itself, and I think they'll hold up very well.

I have the maxed out 12 core Mac Pro and Resolve doesn't handle our Dragon 6K footage yet. I am still waiting for our RRX to see how that helps out. Currently we are getting around 1-2 fps playback in Resolve at 6K.

Uh… Try reducing working resolution. But for sure old 12 core Mac Pros off ebay with Titans are much faster and much cheaper.

i figure i'll buy a rocket x, and build the computer around that lol...
