It's been a long time since apple updated the Mac Pro/FCP Studio.

I'm wondering what might be in store... particularly in respect to posting RED in FCP. I'm hoping there would be some real solid advancements.

Does anyone here know anything ?

Anyone who does know anything about anything Apple has on the drawing board is either breaking their NDA or lying...

I've been holding off as well. Really thought they would release new Mac Pros at Mac World. Maybe they will surprise us with a release in the next month or two. Still, could be too long to wait!

I'm a new member. How do you post on this site? I don't see a post button from scratch, only reply buttons.

Thanks,
Mark

From what I understand, the new MacPro's will be receiving the next generation Intel chips and the rumor mills are saying that they will be released in the next few weeks.

As for Final Cut 3, I've heard whispers of an NAB release, but I doubt it now that they've pulled out of trade shows...

Who knows!

I haven't had the opportunity to work with R3D files natively in FCP timeline (I guess that's just recently been made possible) ?

My questions are:

1. How is that workflow working so far... is it quick and effective. Or buggy?

2. What does Apple/FCP need to do in order to make working with R3D natively better. (Any guesses as to whether or not these improvements could come soon? )

I know any answers would be pure speculation... but it seems like folks around here have their ears to the ground and could be on par with what actually happens.

anyone?

Well, RED team already mentioned that the support for R3D is more to come, so wether FS3 or not, it could be done with updates. But the basic problem like the Mac system is running with gamma 1.8, that's a real problem (But Adobe seems to work okay I think?).

I heard even Blackmagic or Kona is outputting video from their HDSDI as gamma 1.8 when you're using FCP and Color. Can anyone verify that? Display LUT fixes that?

Kona 3

Kona 3

Hi,
Ye:sarcasm: s Kona 3 is giving me direct output to my HDSDI monitor from FCP and Color also . It is also downcoverting to SD if you want to see an output in SD monitor.

I hope it helps.

Harcharan,

I missed the important line there, sorry "outputting video from their HDSID as gamma 1.8" is what I wanted to say.

Expect the Mac Pro around the march timeframe. Intel's delayed the Core i7 Xeon until spring and Apple only uses Xeon in the Mac Pro.

I expect that Final Cut Studio 3 will be announced within a couple months of the Mac Pro launching and will have significant UI changes and new functionality. I expect RED support to be top notch.

hi all

Hi, Im new here...but im starting to think apple don't care to much about pro apps anymore...it's all about ipod & iphone & ilife 09...they make the money!
