  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New, "low cost" Baselight One doesn't require RedRocket to work with R3D.

The reason I dont believe it will do realtime decoding in even half good is because of their hardware. FL has migrated to heavy use of the GPU and only use cpu power for debayering raw formats. IF they had systems built with the latest E5s on a dual cpu configuration then maybe, but thats not what they build.

FilmLight and everyone else uses CPU for R3D debayer, thanks to Red. So, no big news there. This been covered countless times. It's not like FilmLight moved to GPU based processing and immediately forgot how to use multi CPU processing. Not even four years passed sense they had jumped on GPU bandwagon. So, if Red prohibits GPU debayer, Baselight is doing it with multi CPUs. Even my old Baselight HD 5 years ago had 4 quad processors. Todays 4 high end CPUs will have no problem with full quality debayer in real time.

Unfortunately the new baselight 2 (Previously known as Baselight HD) now runs on two 6 core intel X5650 @2.6 Mhz :(

I was about to order one until I found out the specs. Kinda bummed me out. That said, they insist that their new BL2 config is da bomb. SO I am kinda on the fence about it. Jake, ill be there monday PM and for the rest of the week, we should meet up for drinks.

Great! See you there.
That's strange. I remember, that BL HD had 4 CPUs, with 2 on the mother board and the other two on a riser card.
Personally, I'm waiting for the Mac Baselight. As I understand, FilmLight needs the hardware from Mac. Once it's out, we may finally see it happen.
