Hey folks,

As many of you know, I'm a big fan of the PagLink batteries. I loved them so much I decided to make a "review" video about them. I didn't receive compensation for my efforts, and wasn't looking for any. I've spent thousands of dollars over the years on "bad purchases" and wanted to share a great experience with my fellow camera operators and DPs.

We put together a group buy for these batteries last fall... I've had many people email me about doing another, as they missed out... I've spoken with Steve Manios from Manios digital, the US distributor for PAG. He's agreed to a group buy. There are no limits in the number of batteries that one needs to purchase, or the group needs to purchase to receive the discounts. All of the purchases will go through Manios Digital directly; there is no third party in between.

I do ask that if you're looking for power, and you like the batteries, feel free to jump in on the deal. If you don't like them, no problem, please move on and allow others to make their own decisions. It's great when companies are willing to help our community and it's even better if it's a positive experience for all involved.

If you're looking for info on the batteries, check out my review:

If you're interested contact Manios Digital directly: steve@maniosdigital.com

These prices are going through the end of June, 2013.
*All orders are processed and shipped as they are placed! You don't have to wait for the end of the group buy period to receive your products!

BTW: This is not competing with Group Buy that Steve Manios posted yesterday. Steve is a stickler for procedure (and the rules), and wants to comply with Red User protocols; therefore he's removing his post. He is in the process of becoming a sponsor on the site. He contacted Jarred today. His original post is being removed, and being replaced by this one. (Again, I'm not receiving anything for this, other than the good karma for 'paying it forward' to so many, like Steve, who have helped me over the years!)

Domenic,

You know, the hub isn't in the list... but I bet this was an inadvertent omission! Let me contact him and find out!

That would be great. Thanks curt :)

Domenic,

You bet! It was a mistake... but it's up on the original post now! (I edited it! We're all good to go!)

Sick!!! do all the orders get put in at the same time or do they get put in as soon as you get my response?

Do these batteries relay % info to the RED camera's screen?

Thanks!

If you have a battery plate that supports % it will show even if you have the bar level paglink batteries.

Yes they do, if you have the appropriate battery plate like those from IDX or SWIT or RED.

Domenic,

You can ask Steve, but I'm fairly certain, when you pay, they ship! No delays! Steve is AWESOME like that!

It's official... when you place your order... they ship! You could have them this week! I'm hoping to have mine by Friday! Yeah, baby!

I can put a good word in for Curt and PAGlink. We bought a couple and the micro charger a while back. Great batteries, and good service. Our first charger showed up defective, and they replaced it in a hurry. Cool guys.

In fact, I may jump on this and buy a few more.

Matt,

YOU? ME! I'm jumping in on this too!

Thanks for the kind words. I'm glad they took care of you! The Manios Digital folks truly are first class! Steve has a wonderful staff! I've been a customer of theirs for 15 years now... Can't say enough good things about them! (We should try a Cartoni tripod buy next! heh, heh, heh!)

Hey Curt, et al,

I'm totally new to pro batteries, so please forgive my ignorance. Do the quality and unique features of the Paglink justify its 2x+ price over an equivalent capacity Globalmediapro battery?

That's a question only you can truly answer for yourself. I can't speak poorly about the Global Media Pro batteries. I have never used them. I have friends who have... and they seem to like them.

Where the PAGlink's excel for me, is in the fact that they are linkable, you can fly with them on planes in any quantity with no restrictions, they'll charge on any V-mount charger and you can "stack" them to charge on any charger, not just the PAG chargers.

I push the envelope. We use Epic in ways many can't believe... My "background" is in the ENG/EFP arena. If we have to shoot longer form interviews and I'm getting low on power... I just add a battery to the stack and keep going. PAG doesn't recommend using more than three, but I've gone to four for a VERY long interview without stopping! That has a value to me.

PAG has been around a LONG time, and they have a very solid reputation. (Manios Digital is awesome too! I don't know if you read Matt's post, but if you do have a problem Manios Digital solves it in a flash!)
That's NOT to say other batteries aren't good too... there are many terrific options out there. I just love the stackable feature, and the fact that I can load up one charger, when on the road, and charge up to 16 overnight. Who likes getting up at 2:30am just to swap batteries on the charger?

Good luck with your decision.

Q:

So let's say I have 10% left on my battery and the RED TOUCH displays just that, what happens to the % when I link another battery?

Yes they do, if you have the appropriate battery plate like those from IDX or SWIT or RED.

Q:

So let's say I have 10% left on my battery and the RED TOCUH displays that, what happens to the % when I link another battery?

Marcos, I can't answer that fully, so maybe someone else can chime in. I have a View Factor plate and it only shows voltage. That's ok with me, as I've only used voltage for about 20 years or so, and I'm comfortable with that. However, even for my voltage, it becomes a combined voltage when they link up... so say I have 12.0 volts left (and it's dead at 11.5), I add a battery to the stack, it now will say (typically) 14.5 or higher! Generally with two batteries, I get a 15.0V readout.

My hypothesis is that if you use a plate that displays the percentage, then it should work in nearly the same way.

From my experience and what I understand is the batteries work as a "collective" at that point.

I bought 2x of these batteries on Curt's recommendation and LOVE LOVE them. I think i'm going to pick up two more and get a quad charger to round out the package. The travel charger is amazing as well.
