  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NEW GROUP BUY: MICROREMOTE WIRELESS FOLLOW FOCUS

That was quick to tackle the issue Loren, thanks! And also, I do not know if I have voiced this. Thank you Carey for all your hard work to make a successful group-buy happen!

Hey All,

So here's the fingerwheel break down.

With the new release of the universal version, we had to modify the design of the fingerwheel to make it compatible with the new Collins Clamp. That $147.50 was pre-NAB pricing (because that's when we made the change over to the new design) and it was simply not updated in the actual text of the configuration option, but is on the product page itself. Sorry about that, and we'll get that changed Monday.

So the two options for the fingerwheels are:

microRemote Fingerwheel Controller Add-On - This is designed to be used in conjunction with our microHandGrips and slide on natively.
microRemote Universal Fingerwheel with Collins Clamp - This is designed to attach the fingerwheel to anything, be it your steadicam, tripod pan handle, or even our grips. This guy comes with the Collins Clamp, and that is why it is more expensive.

So if you want to get the universal fingerwheel with your wireless bundle, you would not select any fingerwheel option while getting the wireless bundle, and then simply add the bundle I linked to above.

Also, regarding the Run/Stop Cable. It is not currently up in the webstore, so I am checking with the guys to see when/how that will become an option for you all to add to your order, and will let you know as soon as I know.

Hope that clarifies any confusion! But of course let us know if you have any further questions.

Cheers,
Loren Simons

Loren, I already selected fingerwheel, Please update my order with this plus clamp.

cheers

i couldn't wait, I bought it yesterday at full price and received it today. I LOVE IT! No lag, smooth and accurate!

The accessories page shows the bare fingerwheel at $95
The Universal fingerwheel with Collins clamp is $280

$185 is pretty darned expensive for a clamp! Can I order just the Universal fingerwheel and use my own clamp? Or are either of the fingerwheel units threaded for 1/4-20 or 3/8 bolts underneath the clamps?

Making major purchases by mail-order is difficult without consistent information.

Yes - there is a little price inconsistency - unless I'm reading this incorrectly?

If you opt for the original fingerwheel & cable option as part of the Micro Remote Bundle it's $147 (including cable) http://store.redrockmicro.com/Catal...ote-Focus-System/Remote-wireless-focus-bundle

However, if you purchase the fingerwheel (original) as an add on (not part of the bundle), it's $202.50 http://store.redrockmicro.com/Catal...Remote-Focus-Fingerwheel-Controller-and-Cable

Similarly, the Collins clamp (new) fingerwheell version is $280 but you also have to include a control cable and that adds another $52.50 (total here is $332.50) http://store.redrockmicro.com/Catal...sal-Fingerwheel-Controller-with-Collins-Clamp

Whilst the Collins clamp adds $100 to the price, there is a difference here.

I suspect the fingerwheel as part of the Micro Remote bundle reflects a special price (?) - and as the new Collins version is not available as an option, the higher price is due to a non bundle purchase.

Basically, if we get the fingerwheel as a separate accessory, the original fingerwheel is $202.50 vs the new Collins clamp version at $332.50.

Brent,

Sorry for the confusion and thanks for pointing this out. When we did the changeover to the new fingerwheel build, the actual individual fingerwheel page was overlooked, as this bundle that includes the cable was the primary page we always used. I brought this to the web guys attention and he adjusted the standalone fingerwheel to reflect the proper price, $150.

The standard fingerwheel bundle can only be attached to our microHandGrips as shown here. You could of course always jerry-rig something up, but that's the exact reason we designed the universal fingerwhee bundlel (which is universal only because of the included Collins Clamp).

So in summary, there is only one fingerwheel controller, but there are two different mounting mechanisms. One that uses the Collins Clamp (The "Universal Bundle") and the other that uses a bracket to attach it to our grips.

Hope that helped clarify things and sorry about the confusion.

Cheers,
Loren Simons

Can you just add another drop down option in the Micro Remote Bundle to add the new Collins Clamp fingerwheel?

As it stands now, the original/standard fingerwheel and cable in the MRemote bundle is $147.

But to get the new Collins clamp fingerwheel, with cable, the price goes to $322.50.

The Colins is an extra $100, no problem there, but there's a still a $75 difference.

Yeah. I am a bit confused about the pricing on this as well.

Hey Andy,

Okay so I'll recap some of this information. The $147.50 is the original price of the fingerwheel with cable before we modified it to be compatible with the Collins Clamp. It required redesigning the unit so that it could be added to a collins clamp, and changing a large part of the design of the small unit.

If you were to select that option in the wireless bundle and add everything to your cart, it would reflect the proper price of $202.50. The price in the text in the configuration option was just not changed by accident.

So then add the $100 Collins Clamp and adapter plate to the $202.50, and you end up at $322.50, the cost of the Universal Fingerwheel.

I understand everyone's confusion, and it is due to some miscommunication on our part when we went and changed the design of the fingerwheel, sorry about that. If you are at all still confused, everything will be corrected Monday, so you can just hang tight until then and place your order when everything is marked correctly.

In the mean time though, please use the following links while building your order for the proper pricing:

To add the fingerwheel controller for our microHandGrips please click here
To add the universal fingerwheel controller for tripod pan bars, steadicams, and everything else,
click here and remember to add the optional cable.

And Kwan,

Sorry about that, I thought I answered your questions in post #282.

Loren, those numbers still don't seem correct. The Fingerwheel with Collin clamp is $280. The 18" cable it says is $52.50. That's $332.50, not $322.50. So something is still wrong with the pricing we're being told.

Furthermore, I see there is now a cable pack with all 3 cables for $177, but if you buy the 2-cable pack and the fingerwheel cable separately they are only $170.50 ($118 + $52.50). It would make sense that the 3-cable bundle would be less than buying them individually, not more.

Seems like this is the first time people have added up the numbers on the online store. I have already ordered, but trust my total will be adjusted when someone figures out this complicated addition.

In my world: packages cost less then individual items, design changes cost slightly more, customers pay the lowest advertised price.
