  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NEW GROUP BUY: MICROREMOTE WIRELESS FOLLOW FOCUS

Only thing holding me back is the frequency range and legality in the UK. Been looking around but can't find much info. Hopefully Loren can help :)

Andy,

I just wanted to get a definite answer, which is as I thought, is a yes. We are %100 Internationally Complaint.

Yes if you want to compete with $100 LANC controllers I agree. The complexity of the setup is quite different.

Jacek,

The only thing is there is no $100 LANC Controller in the world that can control an Ultra Prime or even a Zeiss ZF lens. I use the fingerwheel constantly when filming live events where I wouldn't be using marks anyways. I actually find that for specific moves, using the creases of the joints in my fingers work very nicely as hardstops ;) But yes, to each their own.

I talk to TV station engineers quite a bit about the transition (to large chip cameras) these days and I got a completely different impression..
Just to clarify- I think he MRFF is a very good value. With this GB even more so....I would jump on it if I were on the market for remote FF.
The finger wheel however... to each their own I guess...

I recently shot a spot where I had to pull my own focus on the barrel of the lens... the finger wheel has to be a better option than that ;)

OK let me make it clear:
Your system seems to be a pro quality remote lens control at a very reasonable cost. I command you on that.
The finger wheel however promotes poor ergonomics:
If you can't put your left hand on the lens grip to focus because you upset the rig balance that's poor ergonomics.
If you need two hand grips (left in addition to the right one) that's poor ergonomics.
I understand your finger wheel compliments your rigs but that does not change the facts.
But it may be too late to go back- or not..;)

I have news coming today about allowing people to pay their deposit early to reduce lead time. Stay tuned...

I apologize guys but the lead time will remain roughly the same. It was a misunderstanding on my part.

All dates are locked in.

Jacek have you shot with panavision or arri HH rigs? Really not meant for pulling your own focus. No rig with 2 hand grips is meant for the operator to focus. Two handgrips for anything but a broadcast ENG camera are the norm. What film or professional digital motion picture camera have you used that has one grip? (Pictures please)

All rigs are more stable with the normal points of contact, and if you can focus while keeping both hands on the proper grips it sure as heck can't be bad..

Dont knock it before ya try it ;-)

if you have tried it then please give us your first hand experience with it.

Now that was funny! Which finger, on which hand..?

BTW, with this huge, rapid response on the Buy side, it makes one wonder what operators were using before, or just muddling along.

Thank you very much

Fury

I think most of us were waiting to see what popped up at NAB before deciding.

Justin I started in the industry 26 years ago with Panavision. I have handled more Pana rigs that you will ever see the way things are going..;)
I've seen many rigs. I also have many friends DPs and operators I talk to all the time about gear.
It's a bit confusing when you say that the HH rigs were not meant for focus pulling. If so why the finger wheel?
There are tons of film cameras HH with one grip- just google images.

I thought thought the same thing ( that I would hold out), the deal is good, but its not so epic that I feel like its a get it now or never get it type thing. But then I started thinking about it, and I think I can definitely get some rentals to the people at work who shoot a lot of 5D on Jibs and such. Then in a few months / next year if I find I'm using it on a regular basis and feel I need the extra channels, I'll pick up a better system.

Before - we were probably renting Bartech and Prestons for Jib/Steadi work.
What's great is that the MRFF is priced on par with an Arri FF4.

Thanks for setting this up Carey.

FYI regarding motor torque:

The motor rates at .6Nm (newton metros) of torque, so just a little less than the smaller Heden .

So, unless you are using a 1962 Cooke zoom, this motor will have plenty of torque.

Wonder how it'll perform on Lomo Sqaurefronts... :)

sometimes and depending on temperture specially those who work outdoors in cold nothern countries extra torgue is needed since lenses do get stiff with this. But 0,6Nm will probably pull most casesat max.
the thump wheel for pulling one man focus can be reallly great sometimes if its adjustable and works well. Not everyone likes to have one hand on lens and there are many styles of preferences so its down to what the op feels beeter for him.
And its no way its a luck in ergonomics.

Jacek, this is the 21st century and budgets are low. Sometimes you need to pull focus yourself. This finger thingy might help that. Just not sure what you are arguing about? Your saying all 2 hand grips are bad ergonomics. And this finger wheel promotes bad ergonomics, What do you suggest? I just don't get it when people knock something and don't have an equal solve for the problem. Especially being a small business owner, why would you knock another when you have never even seen it?

Im not here to argue either.. I know that this $200 part is a good thing, just not sure why you are so against it?

Can all the fence sitters please hurry up and take the jump.

Fury has the Under...

Thank you very much
