I guess I'm a little confused about what is going on in the new firmware. What kind of LUTs can be used in camera? I haven't seen anything about 3D LUTs so I'm assuming not those.

Also, how do you get the LUTs onto the camera, how do you choose which LUT to have displayed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

when i was playing with it, seemed like you can only choose between graded and neutral on your output path. Neutral will always be RLF. The graded options in the drop down were really only RG2/3/4. I coudnt find a place to make a look and apply it if your only choices are from the RG dropdown.

Domenic is right, LUTs are RedGamma variations. FWIW, I used this firmware on our Epic-X this past weekend and the camera was constantly locking up when cutting the roll and sending a neutral image out of HDMI. Had to load in the release build and the camera worked flawlessly for the rest of the shoot.

I also noticed that I couldn't see the color coded chart at the top of the LCD for the Gio Scope to see where image regions fell, but the histogram was blocky to indicate the exposure steps.

I (of course) forgot to save a log file for support, so use at your own risk.

It's not too late to send in a log file. They are a rolling history of camera use and survive across firmware upgrades/downgrades.

Thats what I was thinking. I'm hoping red chimes in and gives us a heads up. I'm in the pre-production phase on a film and I'm looking to get our post workflow Ironed out.

If they aren't then we'll make sure and get a monitor on set that can take a custom 3d lut. I just don't want to invest in it if they are going to enable it in camera. It would be so nice to have this option in camera!

+1. I would imagine this firmware is the first step in that direction?

+1000. Everyone from the little guys to the biggest in the industry have been waiting for this and will use it to its fullest!
