  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Fast Prime Set WOW

I new Leica would be the first to combine fast and full frame.

But they're not full frame...

Full aperture S35. Should cover 5K I think, even the really wide ones.

hahahahahahahahahaha

Sanjin, you're on crack if you think those frame grabs prove anything.

Mitch,

Hahahahhehehehahahehehehhh,

no I'm on red wine (In wine there is wisdom...) as usual that tells me how R1MX will outperform Arri Alexa III EVF in many ways starting that I would with R1MX be able to record in 4.5K at extraordinary 800 ISO performance (already proofed), have already audio on board ENG style recording possibility for handheld at 4 channel uncompressed, 24 bit, 48KHz, have 5 types of recoding option: CF, Red Drive, RED Ram, HDSDI and HDMI preview out, at 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30 fps 4K, plus 50, 59.94 and 60 fps 3K (windowed), plus 75 and 120 fps 2K (windowed) using FireWire 800/400, USB-2 and e-SATA interfaces, RED DRIVE (RAID)™ hard disk drive (320GB), REDFLASH™ flash memory drive (64 GB), (CF) Compact Flash Module.

Also have some more additional "beauties" under my sleeves.

And the upgrade would cost me $4.500!!!

So what about Arri Alexa III EVF with some of those specs and features?

Hey all, just to chime in on the Arri ALEV III shots, the mystery competitor A can't be Red as I saw the demo at InterBEE recently and in the tech notes they mentioned competitor A's footage having been recorded at 1080p 4:4:4 directly which would eliminate Red as that can only be done on playback and would seem rather counter-productive. I imagine it's more likely that Competitor A is the F-35, but that's pure speculation on my part.

HTH

Paul

Nothing new because we heard here at the forum before that competitor A is F35.

But I'm not talking about competitor A.

I'm talking about that R1 is still a good value with M-X upgraded and then even can be in a very close race with Arri Alev III EVF.

Btw., F35 is too "fat" and heavy camera that is mostly useful on a tripod...

I do not say that Arri Alev III EVF is a bad camera, it's good that Arri is trying to get in a market that sells high-end cine cameras to individual users.

Also I'm saying as a RED1 owner that Arri Alev III EVF can be hardly attractive to me in many ways after I get R1MX upgrade.

But now I'm pretty far away of the topic of this tread that is a rumor about new Leica'a Mystery name(d) lenses.

Ecellent point, Sanjin. LOL

Sanjin, you're on crack if you think those frame grabs prove anything.

While you are correct Mitch - those frame grabs prove nothing - but those that just assume ARRI's new camera has higher sensitivity than the Mysterium-X .... we'll .... I'd like to point out that you are all just assumin'

I don't think anyone said one of those frame grabs was M-X did they? Sure hope not.

Steve,

you can compare the samples from both sensors that are already available online:

So these are from the epic and not the mx upgrade ?

Stephen,

I repeat again that some of us like me knew that from a long before....

Hi,

As the blacks are crushed on the RED MX examples your showing, it's not possible to make any meaningful comparison. All we know is the F35 had the best DR of any existing cameras last year when several independent tests were carried out. I seem to remember seeing some charts from RED a couple of years ago showing very high ISO's, personally I was never able to get results as good as the examples posted.

Stephen

Also don't forget that upcoming Epic looks like you would compare Apple computer (RED Epic) with Fujitsu Siemens Computer (partly German based computer) Arri Alev III EVF.

So what is better computer?

Of course Apple (in this case RED Epic)...

Here I do not compare that with cars as other people do here (BMW vs. Corvette) because high end cine digital cameras are more like computers than cars...

Stephen,

F35 should not be considered as a "so friendly ergonomics" camera it's more like a "big and fat digital duck" as I have got impression playing with it at the last IBC show in Amsterdam.

An Arri 235 wins hands down.

Based on your practical experience with both these unreleased cameras ???

Have you ever actually used an arri camera ?
