Does anyone have experience with the new CS 5.5 and RedRocket card. Are there any acceleration compared to CS5.0x?
Generally or... .. if someone do some benchmarks?

Hi Salem,
no benchmarks here, but CS 5.3 with Redrocket driver 1.3.5 worked better the CS 5.5 with the same driver (preview and rendering). I´m still waiting for a positive answer when CS5.5 will support Red Rocket driver 1.4.7. Until now only preview is supported here with CS 5.5, rendering trough CPU only.

5.3? I wonder if the QT bug is still on that one?
I think Im up to 5.0x (not sure) but havent tested on Premiere/AE since 1.4.7 update.

Thank you Rob!
I downloaded it already, but was not sure it would work with non Epic R3D´s.
I´ll try it in a minute,

Just to be clear the labs release works for all r3d's... And is the release needed for the latest rocket drivers. Thanks for answering for us Rob ;)

Dave,
you should communicate this on the Adobe website more clear. Right now it looks like it is only for Epic.
I just upgraded to 5.5 and it is a big step.
Great work, thanks!

a little off topic ... what role dose the mercury playback engine play with a Red rocket installed. With CS5.5 will it be a big deal to run a NVIDIA GPU? Dose Premiere take advantage of both cards when working with .r3d files?

cheers,

Wanted to check if the Rocket works in the Premiere timeline. So we can cut from the Raw files and be accelerated right in the timeline.

thanks,
Jason

Wondering the same thing. If I could get rocket acceleration on the timeline and playback through my Kona 3 editing in Premiere it'd be hard not to switch over to CS5.5...

The mercury playback engine is about our internal performance engine. Mercury Playback + GPU is what you are asking about. So the rocket gets the frame into our hands without getting the cpu busy. When you get the frame onto the GPU if you use GPU accelerated effects then we take advantage of both.

Rocket playback works, not sure what the current performance of kona 3 is

Hello Dave,

How well does CS5.5 implement full debayer playback with RED ROCKET? It's impressive Adobe is following up with the latest development from the RED, and mentioning RED ROCKET is working even for the realtime playback. The DaVinci Resolve has proven RED ROCKET to GPU to Video I/O data travel and providing realtime playback, can I expect the similar with Premiere Pro CS5.5, too?

As posted in other threads. We use rocket fully when available. We can get full res realtime 4k playback on windows, we drop 1 or 2 frames on the mac due to apple architecture limitations we are currently trying to work around. As for I/O we know it works very well with the NVidea SDI out solution. We are working towards making it work much better with our other partners. After we debayer with Rocket if you have a Cuda card everything will be accelerated as normal.

Cheers

Dave
