Hey Guys. While waiting to get my Scarlet W I went ahead and built a new PC to handle my editing. Here is my current system config: 5960X @ 4.6Ghz 32GB DDR4 Ram @ 2400Mhz 980Ti AMD Firepro W9100 500GB Samsung 840 SSD (Play footage from this Drive) 512GB 950 Pro M.2 (OS and Applications) After running the latest version of Premiere Pro CC 2015 with the new footage and switching between the OpenCL and CUDA Renderers I am seeing some big differences in drop frames. The chart below shows how many frames I am dropping in each test based on renderer.

The file I am using is: WEAPON 6K FF (6144x3160) 23.98 fps REDCODE 3:1 DSMC2 Standard OLPF http://www.red.com/sample-r3d-files

Based on my tests do you think I should go ahead and sell the w9100 or is there any way I can get more out of it. Also is there anything else I should change to get the best possible performance. Thanks!

I am not sure one can derive much from this test. The FirePro cannot run CUDA so it must be reverting back to OpenCL mode when you select it.

Open Cl performance in Adobe is still far behind CUDA since Adobe started with Cuda and has refined the memory management far better with Cuda with more time available. I would suggest running Cuda whenever possible which means you want to get rid of the AMD card.

Are you removing the Firepro when running the CUDA test, and doing a clean video driver install? and vice versa? That's the only way to tell.

Agree with Bowen though between a w9100 and a 980Ti I'd go 980Ti.

Regardless of OpenCL or CUDA and which software uses what, I'd go nVidia all the way. On a 980TI or Titan X, the OpenCL performance is actually better than on AMD hardware right now. Besides, without nVidia, you have just eliminated CUDA as an option. If you can wait a few weeks, I would go GTX1080 instead of the 980TI.
