New Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K

Blind Test: Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K versus 4K - Comparison

By slashcam

Here comes a little blind test quiz between the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K versus the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. We used the same Canon F4 / 24-105mm Zoom on both cameras. The BMD Pocket 4K had as well a focal reducer attached. So? Which is which? And which one looks better to you? Can you figure it out? To be resolved soon ...

Blackmagic camera is not bad as an all-in one camera with no rigging. They should have used a bigger battery like Sony NPF which gets closer to 2-3 hours, vs. the <40 mins with the internal one. It's a compromise. If it was a cube with a screen that attached on the top and swiveled, you'd still see people complaining.
Possibly, but a cube with safely folding screen and RF mount would have very few complaints IMO..rear NDs option in an adapter Add battery clip on the back so different size batteries could be used, loupe to get a VF mode, maybe handle with couple of assignable buttons, voila, not really rocket science....

The Blackmagic Pocket Camera Battery Grip($245) will give you around 2 hours, this gives you options, light an small(for a 6K RAW camera) when needed and a bit bigger with a bigger battery, not a real issue IMO.

BMPCC6K vs Amira vs C100 ND Test

By Stray Angel Films

A quick test showing how different ND filters affect the BMPCC6K, Arri Amira, and Canon C100mkII. We noticed during our review of the 6K that it was very IR sensitive compared to other cameras, so we thought it was worth sharing.

BMPCC6K and Atlas Anamorphic Lenses - Paige Lorentzen

By samfregonese

I got to test out the Atlas Anamorphic Lenses with my new Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K (BMPCC6K) with my friend Paige Lorentzen.
Open the description [click 'show more'] for more info!!

My good friend Ben Hess (@benhessfilms) owns the Atlas Anamorphic 40mm and 65mm 2x Lenses and was kind enough to come out to Los Angeles and meet up with myself and Paige Lorentzen (@paigelorentzen) to have fun one afternoon testing out how they pair with the new BMPCC6K.

Ben changed the mount of the lenses to EF so they mounted natively on the blackmagic design 6k without use of any adapter.

This was my first time ever using anamorphic lenses and is a lot different to how I normally shoot but am very happy with the results.

First time shooting Braw with the new BMPCC6k
Being a Nikon shooter, I used Nikon 16-35 F/4 VR coupled with a cheap Chinese adaptor - It worked.
The camera is mounted on DJI Ronin-S gimbal, along with an external 1 TB SanDisk SSD.

Graded in DaVInci Resolve 16

Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6k

Without knowing the full specs, I’m getting an Xbox vs PS2 vibe from the Komodo/p6k releases, where even if the Xbox (Komodo) is objectively better, it’s not going to be "better enough" to overcome the 6 month lead time and price advantage of the PS2 (p6k). If it was just the ZCam and Komodo, it’d bet Komodo (even if it’s only s35), but after using the p4k, Komodo definitively needs an ace up it’s sleeve (like Dual Pixel AF or being FF35).

I also think the 16:9 6144x3456 sensor is a solid move (presuming RED stick to a DCI/1.9:1 sensor with Komodo).

(Fyi, totally just opinion based on half-info... like RED’s motto; everything is subject to change.)
