  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New again...

I just replied my email. Hopefully getting my card next week or the following week.

This card and myself would be so busy after receiving, with giving workshop at NHK, Apple Store Ginza and at Adobe. I'm guessing by just providing workshop would pay for the price of the card.

You do need an app written for RR, which is why we are releasing ROCKETcine-X and then REDCINE-X. It is also why we are giving out an SDK so apps can make use of RR speed. Many companies are anxiously waiting for the SDK to do just that.

Jim

Any word on when the Rocket version SDK will be available?

Sorry All... a few really stubborn Bugs slowing things down in ROCKETcine :(

Most likely wont get out tonight as the guys are starting to fade.

I saw a Japanese program that show how some legendary directors and professors work and one of the professors came up with this theory that people who work hard really pushes their brains to the limit. Push it really hard until you are fading. Then give up and go to sleep. Then when they wake up, they all of a sudden come up with the solution. The program showed how Hayao Miyazaki draw and make stories when he was working on the last animation film. He worked hard for a long time, withoug coming up with any certain idea for the climax scene, then he gave up, went to take a nap, after he woke up then he started to finish that scene. So, long story short, go to sleep.

Soon.

My earlier questions seems to have been a bit avoided. :001_rolleyes: So I try another one...

64 bit Windows SDK on the way too?

So true Kaku... guys woke up this morning fresh and rested and banged through a bunch of the big bugs.. just one big one to fix and we are off to the races :)

Appreciate all the hard work! (I thought u cut OT )

I saw thius question asked back in the threat, but was not answered.

Is the Breakout Box also available now with the card?

If not, do we have an ETA on that ?

Mainly because of HD-SDI, if we dont have to drill holes to accomodate
that would be grand... unless its going to be a while for the B/O Box

thanks

Breakout box is still a few weeks away :)

Ah, so the study is true then, glad the big bugs were fixed. Hoping to receive my RR next week.

The reason is that the subconscious mind is a far more powerful processor than the conscious mind. The part of the reason for my successes has been that I make sure to think about a problem just before going to sleep. In the morning, when I take my shower, I almost always had the answer. Wvwn getting in the car to go home for dinner would often work. I'd get the solution, and impliment it that evening. It's well worth developing that discipline. The other half though is you have to be relaxed about it. That's why the shower part works so well. If you're up tight about finding the solution, it won't work.

I see from the guide that it doesn't work with Vista yet. I am using CS4 and was forced to use Vista 64. Does that mean that the card would not be usable yet? Can you offer a guess about how long before Vista support will be ready?
I ask becuse I also got an email that my lenses are ready. I can't pay for both right now, so I have to decide which is more important. I can get One 18-85 pro lens and have one of my R1s no longer using Nikon lenses or get the rocket and stay with the Nikon primes. (The Nikon zoom lens doesn't allow enough light to be of any use except outdoors. It is also usless as a zoom lens as it doesn't move smoothly or hold focus while zooming. Since it was designed for a still camera, I guess it doesn't need to. I know someone will tell me that I need to adjust my backfocus.)
The only one of my Nikons that I like is my F1.2 85mm. It focuses fairly nicely and gives enough light to have reasonable DOF, but I usually can't place the camera that far away.

On the other hand, having the RR might allow me to use Chroma key. Right now, AE takes about 5 seconds per frame to process the picures. Which makes it useless. (Can't meet the schedule that way.)
Sorry to be so long winded, it's just that I have been really struggling with this decision for some time now.

Works for me too. I also find I do my best thinking when I'm driving or lifting weights... Heh. If I just sit at a desk and stare at a problem, it doesn't work out so well.

HDMI output from RED Rocket

HDMI output from RED Rocket

OK, my Rocket should be arriving on monday. :emote_happyhappy: And I've read through the installation guide, but didn't see any specific mentioning of HDMI. We have been told the card will output an HDMI compliant signal and it supports DVI, so therefore the video signal should be there.

The question I have is how do we go about getting an HDMI signal out of the Rocket? Is it as simple as connecting a DVI to HDMI cable? Or do we need the breakout box? Is it possible to get 10bit HDMI "deep color" out of the card?

I'm about to pull the trigger on buying a new plasma monitor and need to know if I have to buy the HD-SDI option for the new monitor in order to get 10bit color out of the RED Rocket™.
