Bjorn, welcome to hollywood and the value of a project is 90% marketing 10% innovation

the simple idea is that these people own a market share of the industry through ownership in a commodity and they are able to 'market' that to people as the original

people who sell lenses, want to sell your lenses, because they make a small profit from doing so, they don't consider ethics(they are bad for business)(so they won't agree with you...ever)

that being said, I don't believe in patent laws that prevent innovation. But, when you consider that no innovation is being offered and they are directly using the name for profitability, then it shows, (like you said) a simple market share grab based on a previous innovation.

i.e. you can't make a generic version of a patented innovation without having significant improvements of your own, nor should you be able to market an item as the patented item for profit.

Rand, are the Bausch & Lomb Super Baltar f/2,8 soft on the edges?

it almost looks like they are out of focus

looks like Willis always frame everything in the center...

The tests are by someone else, but the softness in the corners appears more so on the wides than anything else. Also, it looks like the tester had two predetermined focal marks the girl in the foreground and the guy in the background. Maybe the softness you are seeing is from a "tradeoff" of trying to optimize the two focal planes.


However, I believe that could simply be part of the characteristics of the lenses of from the age of these lenses in the test.

I'm looking at the slate and her on the side, then looking at Willis movies and how he framed everything very center with these lenses

I understand what you mean, however, I think Willis adhered to the "Rule of Thirds" as about as well as any other filmmaker.
