I would appreciate any advice on which vest/arms/staibilizer to purchase for use with Letus Helix as shown here:

Has anyone tried an inexpensive kit similar to this one on eBay?

Thank you in advance for any replies.

You know this guy is most likely a professional steadicam operator and the kit seen in the video cost about 50k

If you seriously want to do/use this on real projects consider doing a steadicam workshop first. You will learn a lot and meet great people. (I did one)

There's two that I've been looking at, Stedicam Steadimate and Tilta armor man 2. They cost around 2500$. The steadimate is going to ship in September according to Bh. Hope this helps..

I say the same, before you think steady cam is thing for you, go to a rental house and try out the most expansive one... and then I think you can imagine how difficult it would be to do it with something that cost 20 times less...

We got the Armor man 2. I honestly did not think it would be as good as it was. I´m by no means a steady operator or even doing gimbal work on anything else than our own productions. But with very little practicing I could easily go around and shoot a full 512Gb mag without rest and staying stable with the roning and even pull focus with the dji focus on the crossbar. With the armor man you can with little bit of practice have the camera just floating infront of you and use both hands to poke on screens pull focus etc and even rest one arm at the time. And the stabilization is to me on par with what I seen really experience steady cam operators are able to pull off.

This is me just walking back to the car not even really trying to be steady and to me that camera really floats.

Now thats slomo and a wide angle lens. but I done similar tests with even a 180mm and result is not bad. And if I would try without the armor man, then no chance I would be able to hold it up that long it was a rather heavy camera setup, something I could possibly keep on straight arms for 30 seconds or so. But with armor man II I can hold it for longer than an hour.
