  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Need advice on Graphics card to run Resolve

GTX690 is best performance/price choice if you are using windows PC. My machine has a 690 inside and it runs good, 5K quarter sharper 48FPS without problem, the limitation is always the R3D decode speed, GPU always hungry (without NR). You can force resolve use both GPU on 690, which double the speed easily. I do not prefer 680 because it also occupy 2 slot, slot is expensive....

Just so I know I'm reading this right, can someone please clarify that if I use a lesser card like a GT640 for GUI and GTX 680 for GPU then when I edit in Premiere it will only now use the GT640 because it's the primary adapter or can I choose which card I want Premiere to use? Thanks

Hi Mark
It looks like it.
Premiere is using only first GUI card (one thats connected to your monitor(s)
I am moving physically my monitor connector to benefit speed increase between adobe and Davinci.

I am using Ge force GT120 and GTX 470 in my Mac pro.
Wish Adobe fixed it, so the system could see and take advantage of other cards installed in the system.

Cheers
Albert

Adobe mentioned that the next Premiere will have support for multiple GPUs, maybe this will fix the issue - in the long run, of course. For the short-term - are you needing to reboot when you swap ports, or is just swapping over enough for Premiere?

trying not to open a new thread on this topic and instead resurrecting an old one ;-)

running resolve lite on Mac Pro 3.1 (early 2008) and having to choose between GTX570 1.25GB and Quadro 4000 - which one would you choose?
best wishes and kind regards,
Martin

I noticed the top of the line Mac Book Pro has two GPUs, the Intel Pro Graphics and the NVIDIA 750 GT.

Anyone knows if it is possible to use the Intel for GUI and send the resolve GPU processing to the NVIDIA?

Can someone please clarify if I can use GeForce 8400 GS for Davinci GUI on windows?
