  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nan's New 11-16mm

"Duclos Lenses has developed a conversion process for the Tokina 11-16mm ultra-wide angle lens. Most obvious is the PL mount that interfaces with any PL mount camera including the RED One. More subtle yet most important is the activated manual aperture control. Lubricated, geared, and marked, the new aperture ring allows precise control for the user. The outer shell of the lens has been replaced with black anodized aluminum. Internal components are refined and reenforced. The final product is a small, lightweight lens perfectly capable of holding it’s own against the likes of other motion picture optics.Now also available in Canon Eos and Nikon F mount."

First, my praise of Duclos is offered as a happy customer. To me, "engineering" is anything added or altered that makes something work well... seamlessly. The Duclos lens is just that. The optics are essentially Tokina, but the rebuild is extensive and smooth as silk... worth every dollar. I have traveled to, and worked, in China, Korea, Japan and Malaysia and have shot extraordinary technology and skill in every one of these countries. As far as I'm concerned, we're all equal on this planet. Duclos simply makes a very good lens. I only hope that someone else... anywhere... can match their quality. I believe it's just a very personal thing for the Duclos team to do a great job.
 
I would recommend everyone who sell and convert lenses to have a website. Because using a gmail or any free web email is not very professional. I like to know who I am dealing with when spending $$$$.

We have 3 Duclos 11 16mm lenses and one GL 11 16mm lens here in our hire stock. The GL lens is well constructed, has Stainless PL mount and is well finished. I believe there are various GL versions go the lens out there so can only talk about the lens we have. Optically they look identical. Out of any of the non Duclos conversions of the 11 16mm lens the GL lens is one of the better conversions Ive seen, support has also been good and Nan has been very responsive for support when needed. As I think every one knows Duclos also offer excellent product and support.

Really six others are doing this -type- of mod? WOW. Correct Matt, Tokina did a good job with the math on this one.
Who will be around to clean there product in 6 years? thats my biggest question.
