  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- RED ROCKET-X

If the RRX is less exposed than a RR, and is also REDs second generation card I am anticipating the RRX will survive longer than a RR.If you wish to see 24fps of 6k in real during your editing, TB2 will be fast enough to read from you storage with one port, and to send & to a RRX on another TB2 port. On the return leg from the RRX the TB2 can send upto 5k RGB & 24Hz @ 16bits a channel - ie absolutely fine for doing real time editing.For the Mac Pro - this would free up 12core + 2GPU to everything else - and hopefully not get in the way of real time experiments.In 2 years time - maybe we have a 35mm molybdenum sensor that does 8k that requires TB3 or a doubling up of TB2 ports ... even then, the RRX will still be fit for the job.AJ
 
I got a package from RDC yesterday. I was hoping it would be a RRX Card. It was a Red Ray player.... RR X Card, I miss you before I've even seen you! Come to my door soon please.
 
Getting in our NEW Rocket-X today for a Lifetime Promo shoot.

Was wondering if it is compatible with Resolve or if Cine-X Pro BETA is the only app that supports this card.

Trying to find a way to convert to QT DNxHD 175x? Does that flavor exist on the new Cine-X Beta for PC?
 
Download the avid codec package for mxf or qt, not sure if you can do .mov qt on PC, but there are utilities than can do the conversion

this card is 2inches longer than your standard card I had to remove my harddrive tray to to make it fit...
 
I'm slightly worried this card isn't shipping in an anti-static bag?
 
It comes in anti static packaging, has an anti static cover and the current generation of boards and chipsets aren't as prone to static discharge as older technologies.
 
The board is printed, not assembled one piece at a time, substantially more durable.

I doubt its any more durable or reliable than the last one, same crumby oem vendor:

....by the way, WHAT is the warranty when purchased via AMX? so there's a one year warranty, but then what does AMX do? is this just automatic or you have to notify AMX & is there some limitation on cost of item or cost of repairs?
 
In the US, they add an additional year of warranty for most cards, 3 years if you have a centurion card.

If an item fails, they have you get an estimate for the repair, then they either reimburse you for the repair or for the original cost of the item, I think $10k max. Its pretty painless, you just have to have charged the full purchase on your card.

If your card was issued outside the US its probably different rules.
 
Are RR-X Card shipping?
 
From my experience, this card will be exponentially more reliable than the first RR.

REDs track record has consistently been to fix issues and check off any weaknesses any of their products have had in the past...

Plus, now RED offers an extended "RED Armor" warranty on this board.

Is this true for things like Dragon sensor upgrades? That is, does the upgrade warranty double to a 180 day warranty?
