  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- Dragon Sensor Upgrade Program begins

I wish people would drop this skin tone thing with the red. Yes out the gate Alexa has better skin tones.... But we are working with raw guys. You take the r3d into a color suite and set it to red log film and you can get the same if not better skin from the red.... I think to many people think red gamma 3 and red color 3 combo is the best place to start the grade from... But it's really just for people to see a pleasing rec709ish look on set, then make it pop in the grade... Now I'm done ranting

As Jarred says: "The Color Science and sensor calibration with a sensor with this much latitude is substantially more difficult to get perfect.. and we didn't have it complete in time to shoot something before the show." - but from early experiments I think you'll find any remaining debate will be due to the skills of the team involved, not the hardware they use.

Further would also like to know about status/position in the line of the FREE DRAGON UPGRADE that was given to customers who invoiced for more than USD50000 in a single invoice with EPIC X BRAIN...we have one of these.

BTW cudos to the entire Red-team for prioritizing customers instead of shooting a video. True Redusers (with a happy bankaccount) don't need to be persuaded.

I agree. Even those with unhappy bank accounts don't need to be persuaded :)

You guys rock! So glad I bought a Red! Its like a win win for Scarlet owners, either way is so sweet!
 
While I am sad indeed to not be there in Vegas right now and about to enter the RED BOOTH at NAB, with M8 in hand as I did for last years upgrade, I am proud of RED's achievements and look forward to M8's return home as soon s it can get Dragonised, and again inspired by a tool to see what I can do with it, looking forward to shoot with it what we have been preparing here in Italy and hopefully our work will pay off and give the new DRAGON sensor justice, making proud it's creators, as that first Shoot will be dedicated to them.

I am one of those people who spent more than $50,000 .00 in the RED store to get the dragon sensor upgrade for free, as was stated on the RED web site. I am assuming this still applies?
 
Glad this will be happening in short order...we've got so many projects on the go and all will benefit with the Dragon sensor, and the new fan kit, and the many new little bits. All of a sudden there's a lot of money about to end up in the Red account, especially when we're talking about two Epic-M's and Meizlers too.
