  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- BackPack Quickplate ( short )

Jarred, is the backpack quickplate a replacement for the once-discussed V-mount module, or is that still in the works? (http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?83011-DSMC-Quickplate-Module!) Would love to see it happen, especially since while the RED volt single plate sounds great, I've already got 6 RED Bricks that work great and hopefully aren't going anywhere anytime soon. No rush on an answer...enjoy the holiday weekend and celebrate your successes with Dragon.
Best,

-Harry

Well that cat's out of the bag!

So, just for folks who travel and since REDVOLT XLs fit within nearly all flight restrictions. You could potentially hold 2 REDVOLT XLs and the REDVOLT Charger as well as having one attached to your camera body and travel with your A/C adapter. 3 batteries all being charged at night yielding about 4.5 hours of camera up-time. Or heck, add another two REDVOLT XLs into that mix and get about 7.5 hours of up-time. All pretty lightweight and super portable.

This is so ideal for me. Sign me up!

Yeah I'd really love this!!

oops forgot i was supposed to keep that part a secret :)

You know I just flew to 8 cities in 3 weeks on multiple airlines and layovers with a 1510 carry-on pelican case w a 4 bank v-Lock charger and 8 x 160wh v-Mount batteries and no one said diddly squat even when they opened the case to check it at security, which didn't even happen every time.

Where and when do the battery rules kick in cause I've never been bit by them? (fingers crossed, knocking on wood and chopping off a bunny's foot)

Waiting for this not-existing XL-module since i got my REDVOLT XLs. ;) Can't wait.

Two questions came in mind regarding that hypothetical XL-module. If this is going to exist, would it take 2 standard REDVOLTs too or XLs only? And then, would it work behind a standard-battery-module for extra long lasting battery power? ;)

Anyway, i have the feeling that this will be essential for me and always on my camera.

Well, considering dragons are coming in this month, and dragon color/gamma is dropping in this October, we might get some new hardware to play with, sooner than later. Cant wait for the Redvolt XL module and everything else Red Element is planning. Well done.

but the bad thing: i see a power cable.
why can't this be done internal via the multicore connector?
this works for the redvolt power modules but not for the vmount ?
in my opinion cables are killing the benefit of the module concept...
but, just my opinion.

norbert

because it slides in.. its the backpack wedge that can go on other things and adjust up and down.. hence the cable. There is a version of this wihtout the cable that is stationary.

Stop posting this exact same post everywhere. Last warning.

Have their been improvements in the battery technology? Do REDVOLT XLs have a longer cycle life than REDVOLTS?

Lots of comments in here about it... I think the new REDVOLT XL adapter needs an official thread :)

i thought it would fit better in this thread. already deleted it.

thanks, norbert

+1. I'm also wondering if you have to step-charge the XLs (i.e., once they read "charged", pull them off, let them cool, and throw them back on to get an actual 100%)?

That's primarily what's holding me back from switching from V-mount batteries. I'd love to shed some weight and go with the XLs
