  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB 2012...

I wonder if technology will actually push out customers....

new sensors every year.5 at exorbitant prices..

how can the average customer keep up?

even if your renting out your camera regularly.. any profit margin is washed away by the purchase of the "newest" thing every 12 -14 months

i don't know why I'm posting this...

i was just reading peoples comments about the new sensor..

People don't have to upgrade, just because a new sensor comes out doesn't make the previous one unusable or bad... Plus, everyone is free to chose when he wants to upgrade, it's not as if everybody had to do it immediately... MX sensor will still make amazing footage in a couple of years, even if the images that come out of Dragon will probably be even more amazing. ;)
And btw the MX sensor is way older than 1 year, and Dragon isn't out yet.

I wonder if the RED ARMOR deal will affect te upgrade path of the Scarlet or Epic... :)

District 9 was shot on the original Mysterium sensor... and nominated for Best Picture. The Social Network was shot on a RED ONE with Mysterium-X sensor... and nominated for Best Picture and Best Cinematography. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was shot mostly on a RED ONE with M-X sensor.

The fact that you can upgrade sensors is a bonus. Dragon is no exception.

Why buy a new camera every time technology gets better? Why not buy into a system that keeps you up to date?

This is why we started RED. Obsolescence obsolete.

The biggest reason I took the plunge! Back when Sony and Lucas were working on new cameras (at the time) to shoot his prequels, I was actually considering those "Panavised" CineAltas, boy would that have been a mistake! Those bodies were pretty much obsolete right after those films were made, unreal! Thank you Red for bringing back the camera as a platform we can build upon and grow with. Just like the way film cameras used to be, only much better!

Hey all, just wanted to say I'll be at NAB this year again :) Hope to catch up with lots of you again - had a blast last year!

Cheers from Tokyo,

Paul :)

Planning to be at NAB. Excited to see all the new stuff. It'll be my first time, so if you see someone that looks like a deer in the headlights, it's probably me.

5 years ago NAB, I put a 1000 dollars down on a camera that did not exist... I've never looked back

I'm hoping the RED booth has some really cool top secret shit coming out. I'm flying 12000 miles... don't let me down boys. :)))

Yeah

No way I can go to NAB this year, but I would give several of my left-side body parts to be there. Hope there is a lot of coverage of all the news from RED for those of us stuck at home drooling on our keyboards!
