Nab 2008...

As I said before:

RED (finally) assimilates SCRATCH.

After the NAB RED will offer a free SCRATCH app with every RED or Scarlet sold.

Then you could ask for REDBOX, "a very fast parallel processing unit ideal for, but not dedicated to, Post, VFX and compression / decompression."

I doubt that they'd give it for free, but I guess you're joking ;).

Nevertheless, it'd be nice if they just convert the SCRATCH products to the young and powerful RED pricing creed.

And concerning the Scarlett..tt option.... I'll take it.

Hmmm, just got this info in... Related (to my prediction #3 above)? Coincidence? Hmmmm.... Guess we'll find out at NAB.

actually - this "REDBOX" is 100% coincidence.

This product was announced BEFORE THE RED ONE CAMERA - it is for excellerated rendering - targeted at 3D.

Yeah, it's just that Im just hoping there's some announcement regarding hardware assisted de-bayering, decompression, etc... With the proper coding, this Redbox or nVidia's parallel computing options could work although I'd personally prefer a PCI-e card.

O.K., WAKE UP GUYS !!!!

OUTBOARD RECORDING TO THE S.two AND ??? OTHER DEVICES
RED RAW OUTPUT (Possibly via SDI port)
THIS IS HUGE, Shheeeeeeeesh.
MEZMO (Loud)

Well, Red already records Redcode raw to one outboard device (the Red hard drive). More options is nice, but it seems the real bottleneck is the next step... going from Redcode to anything else.

...wait, did you actually mean "uncompressed" raw output? That would be impressive, but does an SDI port have the bandwidth to do that?

Well, there used to be a plan for a special output port - 10gbE was mentioned at one point.

I talked to the Codex Digital people about it last Cinegear and they said they were going to allow for uncompressed recording from Red as soon as Red finalized their spec.

Then I think Red took that option out. Now maybe it's back in again?

Hi Jbeale,
Yes uncompressed to the S.two, or maybe to a codec like Cineform.
The REDDRIVE is a pile of poop, this is REAL outboard recording similar
to D20 Viper..............

S2 PR:

S.two Corporation has confirmed that it will be exhibiting a completely new product line up at the NAB Convention (Las Vegas 14th-17th April 2008) in a an expanded location in the South Hall Lower Level.

Showcased for the first time anywhere will be the S.two end-to-end tool set responding to the growing requirement for 4K digital film production. The booth will also feature a new HD444, 2K & 3K capable uncompressed portable recorder and the enhanced production-proven S.two workflow, from capture to offline through archive and conform.

In addition, S.two will be making major announcements related to industry partnerships and co-operative development programs with leading Production & Post Production product providers including ARRI, Dalsa, Apple and da Vinci. Being previewed will be a revolutionary new product for real-time post production of raw Bayer Pattern Data originating with digital cinematography cameras from ARRI, Dalsa and Red.

S.two President Chris Romine comments "This year we have the most exciting new product lineup in our history. S.two’s innovative and environmentally friendly workflows appeal more than ever to low-budget indies as well as major studios. In addition to those mentioned earlier, we have two more new ground-breaking products that extend our tradition of cost and time saving production solutions to pre-post and post production applications.”

OOppps got there before me Laguun.
Mezmo

Notice in Laguun's post above a 3K CAPABLE UNCOMPRESSED
PORTABLE RECORDER.
Does this ring any bells guys?
owwwww a RED 3K widescreen 2.35:! Uncompressed recording option

O.K.,Jim.
We can 'handle the truth', am I on the right tack here?
Raw out and S.two uncompressed Portable Recording in 3K.
Ow, and Scarlet of course. The big three???
Mezmo

I'm seriously doubting one of the big three is a third party recording accessory when everyone at red has so many good things to say about redcode.

My vote: 1.Scarlet, 2. 4K displays, and 3. some killer thing nobody has mentioned on the forum yet.

end fanboy statement here.
