  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MYT Works Glide - Slider Group Buy

Just wondering, why we can't pay a deposit (ie. 20% of the purchase amount) right now and then pay the balance once we reach the minimum 20+ orders on the deadline, similar to the other group buys. This might be an incentive for others to bring the # of orders up before the deadline. The balance will be calculated based on the discount to avoid unnecessary refunds and administrative headaches for MYT.

Hi Joseph,

to be honest, I can't recall why it wasn't possible, but when we set up this group buy, we discussed several options, and for some reason it wasn't possible to go with the deposits. Anyway, afaik we're getting slowly there, so if you and a few more place your orders, the group buy will happen.

And even if (what's not likely at this point) the group buy doesn't work out, the paypal fee is quite small (~1.5% -> 50USD), and additionally it get's split 50/50 between you and MYT. So depending on your order, you would get a full refund minus 25USD.

Question - Can this setup be flipped? Can you use it underslung without the extra $1200 part? i.e. if it's "upside down" does it still slide smoothly?

Hi Wes,

Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately, simply flipping the Glide will not result in a smooth underslung camera slider. The weight of the load will be pulling down on the bearings rather than pushing on top of them, so the interior wheel and sleeve will not be engaged with the rails. As an alternative, clients have mounted their cameras with magic arms to obtain the desired angle without flipping the Glide.

I have created an account in MYT and have populated it with the stuff that I need. Looking for a few more accessories before I check out.

As of now, I am buying this:
MYT Glide Medium 3 in 1 - 4 feet with 100mm bowl
MYT baby feet (4 numbers)
Half ball adapter 100mm - so that I can attach it to my Sachtler EF 100 ENG HD 2 CF tripod
(pl suggest what do I place on the other end to support it)
3" stainless steel rod extension (4 numbers)
MYT wooden handle (one )

Are you guys buying the soft carrying case? I have to make up my mind on this. Can someone tell me how to support the other end? I am thinking whether to use my existing Gitzo CF tripod on the other end or just buy a monopod. Will a monopod (without any head) fit?
I am trying to figure out how to carry it into remote treks. :)
Overall this slider looks well thought out and will be of help.

I plan on using 2 Benro tripods that each hold 27lbs. No ball mount, just flat to the bottom of the sticks.

Just got of the phone with Julia and Etienne from MYT Works.

We're nearly there!

Also, for those who asked me about the possibility of financing: MYT offers the "Bill me Later" option, which gives you 0% interest rate for half a year. Unfortunately, this option only exists afaik for US and Canadian citizens.
 
What's it looking like now? If I put my order in?
I don't want to do it if its not going to happen.
