I believe RED has mentioned that the current RR card would work on Dragon. 99.9% sure of it.

I just assumed my RR card would work with 6k Dragon footage just slower. I had no idea this might not be possible. A clarification from Red would be very welcome. I did not take up the offer on the RRX card based on RR and Dragon being compatible. I hope I wasn't wrong.
All along RED has chosen to put as much power and control in the hands of shooters as they could. By dint of logic, it also makes it much easier to screw up.
Should RED have offered an "auto" mode like on a consumer camcorder?
When I see it, I'll let you know what I think. In recent memory, the most beautifully photographed and lit movie has to be Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, though that was 35mm.(feels weird saying this but "Flight" was the first RED movie to absolutely blow me away, not that the others weren't awesome, I just kept saying "wow" out loud throughout the whole movie - it looked better than any movie i've ever watched, film and digital)
"Lensing"?The MX Epic is a very good camera; as many have noted, if you can't get excellent images with it you need to up your game in terms of lighting, lensing, grading, etc.
From what I have seen, I agree. I wouldn't want to mess with it too much, though. I like emulsions to speak for themselves. Though I have not yet used it!Ummm if the auto mode looks better then yes. Kodak Vision 3 isn't for soccer moms but it has great look 'out of the box'.
Same. We've got a couple of RED Rocket-X cards on order as well. Can't wait to get those. But since we have a chassis packed with the original Rocket cards already, and it's doing a great job, I'd like to keep that one running as backup or even location renders. Possibly store the unit in a second area we're planning. Whatever the case, if the Dragon is still compatible with the original Rocket, we're thrilled. If not... well, I won't be upset but I'd love to know to make plans ASAP.![]()
I'm pretty sure it will work, and I seem to recall being told that the current Rocket will keep on working with 6K footage. But things do often change in the land of RED and I figured I'd ask that question for sake of clarification.

--SNIP--it wont be as fast as MX footage encoded to the same resolution on the older Rocket. We have some things that will help things along coming, and leverage your GPU, but you can't expect the same render times.
Of course if your shooting 5k or 4k cropped on the Dragon, and then going to 4k or 1080p, then that is a different story.
"Lensing"?
It won't be a hard sell to clients anymore...I remember when the R1 first came out, I had a terrible time convincing my clients why it was better...the best way to show them was with the images it created, not with the tech talk.
