I just spent a week in Costa Rica with the Canon motion mount on my Epic MX. I was skeptical before the trip but I came back really liking it. First, it made my whole kit really light and small with no MB, rails platform etc, it also helped that I was using Canon F4 zooms and PAG link batteries with the tiny travel charger. Everything fit in a small (2/3 the typical size) backpack.

The obvious advantage was being able to run and gun without filters and change exposures quickly when shooting into the sunsets verses 180 degrees away. But what surprised me was how clean the picture was when shooting with the setting and even 40 min before setting sun in the frame. There were no reflections, very little flare, just really pretty contrast. Most of the time I was using the Canon 70-200 F4 L, I will try to post a couple frames on Monday.

Now if I can figure out how to use it for what it was intended for and not just a really expensive variable ND I'll be overjoyed.

Thanks for sharing, Its My Favorite New Tool

I still need to come by Mark one day and test that mount out. Hope you had a blast in Costa Rica.

I love mine, and use it as much as possible. It really makes things much faster

Really enjoying using my motion mount. So amazing to have the control over light and depth of field that it provides at the touch of a button! Shot a bunch of ski footage with it recently: http://vimeo.com/82811448

Going to have to do some comparisons with smooth filter vs ND only on action shots, will post results when I do.
