  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

my EOS "smart" mount...

Andy, would the "dumb" version of the mount be upgradeable down the road? My main interest would be to have the ability to slap on a Leica R to EOS adapter on your "dumb" mount and call it a day, but would like to know if I could still have an upgrade path, just in case.

Amazing Canon video tests.

A pure spirit of innovation.

Put me definitely on the list, Andy!

I don't see any screw holes like on a Nikon dumb mount, how does this mount solidly to the RED?

Hey Everybody... Here's some NEWS!

First I am just about ready to let these baby's loose.
(Ok, I'll stop say that soon I promise) ah there I go I did it again... doh, ok

Price
-----

Plain Dumb Mount - 295$
Smart Mount (no Controller) - 695$
Smart Mount to Canon Body Cable - 150$

oh, almost forgot... because of the long baited delay....

Smart Controller (basic) -- FREE!!!! (for the first 100 people!) with smart mount.

ok, what that mean, is there are 2 levels of smart controllers.
(basic) = small battery control box, that controls exposure, plain simple. does it's job.
(advanced) = battery + ext power, bluetooth, exposure and focus. iphone. ect... still working on it. so any input in requests might be included.

the mounts themselves can ship out as early as a week or so probably.
the controllers need about another week on top of that since I don't have the
controller shells yet... in fact I just started to design that... I will post some
concept renders later this evening or tomorrow morning to see what everyone thinks.
Then it's a 4 day turnaround from digital to product.. not too bad. (if ups doesn't screw me).

I'll start taking "pre-orders" now I suppose, just send me a PM if your interested and you'll be on the list...
(priority to people who already have requested to be so, or who have PM'd me...)
I still want to have red go over everything as well, I will try to do that a soon as I can.

till my next post.... here's some more pix, and video of the controller in operation. (IGNORE THE UGLY ASS PROTOTYPE BOX! with the large LCD, it's all I had laying around, my "small red backlit lcd's are here tomorrow...", the final version will be 1/2 the size!)

VIDEO - iPhone res (4meg)

The mount attaches like the nikon mount, except the screws are underneath the canon mount ring becasue of the size difference of nikon/canon, it make for a clean looking mount. I'll put together a mount swap video in the next few days to demonstrate how it all comes together...

Thanks, Andy I assume you were able to get to the 44mm FFD?

Looks awesome mate. I'm on "the list," right? Could you tell us more about how focusing will work?

Very nice work Andy!

Will you able to add a focusing knob to the advanced controller?

Also, it would be useful to include a 1/4 or 3/8 thread to your controller box for easy mounting/clamping to the camera or rods.

Andy, if you can make the smart mount compatible with the Viewfactor controller, I'd cancel my Birger order in a second.

Andy, would you consider making your mount compatible with the IMS from P+S Technik? I guess then we would have the best of "both worlds" ...!!

I will try out to look at opportunities in this direction.

Alesniak's Smart Controller (basic) looks pretty much as a simplefied version of more advanced Cooke/i Lens Display Unit.

Cooke/i Lens Display Unit

"Cooke S4/i Intelligent lenses will work with any film camera to give you continuous remote

readout of the precise focus setting, T stop and depth-of-field from electronics inside the lenses. "
