  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

My Daughters music video...

Very nice Mark. It's got to be a very interesting experience from your perspective. Really nice that you can produce this level of material for your daughter.
 
Not bad for a weekend shoot. Camera worked great.

I really enjoyed the blond guys story arch, I liked seeing him smash around from one uncomfortable spot to the next. In fact, I think I like what was going on with the actor more than watching the singer.

I think we met when I worked at Mojo as a copywriter. I kicked around Leo Burnetts for a few years too. I left and started Sputnik Films in 2003 and have been working for myself ever since. I usually use Robyn Dodd as our producer. So we'd know a lot of the same people but probably only met face to face at xmas parties etc. But I must say Mark, I've always been impressed at the level you set in Brisbane. Great stuff. I'm also serious about helping out if you are ever need a hand doing the next one. It's a really great video and song. I hope it opens a few doors of opportunity.

Im sure if your standing in front of me, ill remember you... :) Im not good with names sorry. Lets try catch up one day soon. :)

Regarding music clips.... I dont do them at all, they have never interested me, I only did this one for my daughter to help her out, was fun because it was my daughter, but doing one for a music Execs or over dosed muso's... no way, I see the way they torture some of the younger directors in our studios, and then pay them shit for huge amounts of effort...
Its a sad world the old music directing world. But it's good for young director DOP's to cut there teeth on I suppose.

I need my daughter to work with someone else though, just so she can see how easier I made it for her :) I'm a big softy with my kids.

Great job Mark, I'm completely at a loss for words how you were able to do this in two days...I would have been just as impressed if you told me it took 6 months. Simply amazing!!!
 
I had a good team as well.. :) Not one man can do this in such a short time frame :)

Shoot was 18 hours all up.. But I was shackled to the Computer for 22 hours !!!! Im just glad Im quick at FCP and AE... Or it would have turned into a longer process...
Like I siad earlier, makes a difference when there is no Client, paranoid Music exes, crazy band members fighting about how much screen time they each have... It was a very smooth shoot, was fun for all involved. My daughters first time in front of the camera... the first take was scary for her, (and me) then she took a big breath and got stuck into it.

I wish all jobs I did were that easy. :)))

Hi Mark, always love what you've done...!. Thanks for sharing mate. one question: the laser scene, was it real or you did it in post?. Since it is dangerous to let the laser beam strike through digital sensor right?.
 
Ive shot plenty of lazars with the REDONE and the EPIC with some beams going directly down the lens.. never had a problem ever...

Remember shooting into the SUN is a lot more damaging than some discos lazar... How many shots do we do a year with the sun in the shot. :)

That was an impressive video. Nice work on the visuals and your daughter has really nice voice. Dynamic Duo with you and your daughter. Great stuff.
