MX Red One rentals

So with pilot season in March approaching, what rental houses are going to have Red Ones with the new MX sensor in them? Who are first in line for conversions? I'm particularly interested in the Los Angeles camera rental houses.

Hello David,
we have cameras being updated as we speak and should have the first available by late this week or early next week. I intend to get all of the REDs in our inventory updated asap (we currently have a dozen or so). If you have any questions please give me a call at THE CAMERA HOUSE; or if you want to test the new MX chip we are so excited about please let me know and we will make it happen.

I think the problem is going to be that when these rental houses get hit by the fifty or so pilots that are all going to shoot in mid-March that they will only have enough MX cameras to satisfy the first person who makes the rental deal.

And most of these pilots aren't going to get greenlit so that they can book the package until three weeks before they shoot, so they can't book in advance far enough to ensure they'll get the MX camera.

(Thanks for the props, Brook & Ketch.)

In response to your post, David, Keslow Camera has a half dozen upgraded REDs that have been working already (by the time pilot season hits, we'll have 20+ M-X cameras ready to go). We've had a great track record supporting multiple, high profile television and feature productions simultaneously utilizing the RED One.

We're also pleased to announce that all of our sensor upgraded cameras are modified with the new, more robust RED stainless steel PL mounts (handles collimation in extreme temperatures and the stress of our heavy lenses like the 24-290mm Optimo's a lot better - another credit to RED for taking a great product to the next level).

Feel free to give us a shout for any Mysterium-X™ needs.
