Mounting Quasar tubes

I have a dumb question also. I have been running these tubes into this dimmer. I'm not doing any damage to the LED's right? The quasar site says they are dimmable so just wanted to make sure.

So I'm on a waiting list to get my quasars right now, and I cant find anywhere on the internet one of the most important specs... the lux reading at known distances...

Does anyone know what the Lux / fc reading is for a 4' bulb at 5600k at say 3feet or 1meter? Also what that would be at say 10' or 3.3meters?

I have measured all the lights I own, so I know my lights power capabilities very well, and wanted to get an idea of how these stack up to my kit already.

Hearing that the Quasar Switchable 3000/5600's are not available currently due to a lawsuit.....The Crossfades are available, however. Not sure what this means for future availability...

I use daisey chain for climbing to mount the tubes. I get that some might be concerned about fire hazard; but, in my experience, the tubes don't get hot enough for that to be an issue. This is definitely a DIY solution, but one that works well for me. Hanging the tubes run through two daisey chains onto a grip arm allows you to adjust the height, then rotating individual tubes allows you to tilt the light output to your liking. I have four tubes and insert them through every other loop.

We haven't had our Quasars for that long, but I've been pleasantly surprised on the quality and specially how easy they are to mount.

I have used the simple metal spring clips you can buy at any electrical supply for fluorescent tubes. You can screw these on to anything from plywood to tubing to Kino shells

FWIW I have 4-15w tubes arrayed and it puts out about 2/3 of a Diva4. You can extrapolate to the higher watt tubes I think.

Interesting, but one of the advantages to me for converting a diva would be control. The MyWayPlate looks interesting but the light is going to spray all over the place. Fine for some applications but with a diva shell, I have all the light control stuff (doors, grids) along with easy mounting and a case that I already have space allocation for in the truck. Not to say I won't get a plate, too - looks slick - but the diva conversation certainly has it's benefits.

This is for the world I work in anyway, which is the network news magazine sit-down interview environment...
