  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

more renders...

Arri 15mm

Arri 15mm

Absolutely... the RED Riser has native Arri 15mm and 19mm support. The two current RED base plates and Arri or Element plates need an inexpensive adapter. I know Element will offer a new base plate for EPIC and Scarlet with 15mm and 19mm Arri standards.

Jim

Thanks for the reply Jim. I am hoping that I will be able to mix and match my current Element Technica / RED accessories with some of the New Red accessories if any applies.

Hi Jim... In order to protect sensor of dust, above all on Scarlet model if we change frequently lenses, have you imagine a system like a small shutter inside we could close when changing lenses ?... Thank you very much for your answer and for these wonderful products....

Same question I asked a couple days ago. I know it seems insignificant, but my curiosity tugs away nonetheless as I've been on some nasty outdoor shoots and killing a $35k brain with some gusting sand is a scary thought. I guess the same question exists for the R1, but I haven't yet had the pleasure of playing that closely with one. Any love for a couple of us newbs?

If my camera boner lasts for more than four hours do I need to seek medical attention?

Sorry to be dense Jim but is that the fixed lens?

I dig this little guy. Is the bottom handle also a battery? Or is it purely optional?

-Stu

I think it is the fixed. It has more ridges on the side than the others.

it looks as if you can unscrew the whole fixed lens and put on the other mount - is that possible

Thats what I was thinking (hoping) before the deeper body was pointed out. buy the fixed lens Scarlet, upgrade to the Nikon mount later... sweet!
But by the looks of it, the reason the body extends back is due to the lens elements extending back further into the body (it is 8X after all), meaning the sensor would be pushed back too. Just my thoughts... Peace out!

Tim.

Mr. Jannard ... I know this question might not be in the right time,, but, I'm just worried about this...
Can we know a little bit more about the mini-RED primes price estimates and delivery time..???

the 2/3" interchangabe lens solution is real ROCKing thing... it kills the the market of a succeful camera (S..K)... coz of course the difference of the price... the Brain is about 1/5th the price... which also kills any 2/3" market out there...

And the handle...

Jim

Jim, I own a RED 1 and I operate a variety of cameras on features, TV shows, and commercials. Cameras go on my shoulder all the time. One thing that jumped out at me from your lovely hand held configuration is the exclusion of the simplest, yet most important thing: a handle on top to pick the thing up and put it on your shoulder. Please.

and why else would it be called "fixed"? ;)

the bigger brain reason - as you mentioned it - can be read here:

Hi there,

First post, sorry about my english, I'm doing my best!
Amazing stuff here Jim! Can't wait to have mine!!

Question. Maybe I'm wrong but... it's just me or the XLR sockets are too close to the handheld? If any XLR cables are plugged, wouldn't be in the way of all the hadheld controls?

Thanks for doing this REDteam.

Nope, Jarred already mentioned somewhere else that the fixed lens... is well... fixed:)

My hope is that what used to be an "out of the box" Scarlet at NAB08 - still is at NAB09. I really wouldn't want to pay for a record button, CF slot, battery holder, nor an XLR input. I clearly remember numerous pod/videocasts in which Ted Schilowitz mentioned that all we’ll need is the CF card and my initial thought was that RED just killed Sony, Pana, and Canon’s prosumer divisions!

Although i am like most here, really amazed by the NOV13th announcements, subsequent revelations (renders too!!) and the brilliance of a completely modular camera system, the fixed lens Scarlet at under 3K$ was/is my price point. I know Jim and company say “expect changes” and all and I do have trust in them, I am quite concerned about what the final price will be. My mind can not help but think that a camera that is even halfway close to 4k$, sadly, might be out of the question :(

Just because I can not afford anything other than a fixed lens Scarlet, does not mean I am a not professional.

Just didn't have time to show all options... top handle is being designed now. Plus, old top handle works great!

Jim

Any thought to putting a record button on one of the hand grips on the shoulder mount rig?

Jim, you need to go to Washington DC and beg for money to make these new cameras. I'm listening to the TV in the background, It's the latest rage in business, housing, and everyother excuse under the sun. I'd ask for a mere 10 billion from the taxpayers! ;)

Thanks again Jim for the time you put into building the DSMC System, and answering our questions.

One question of my own is, any word on the WI-FI capabilities? Will we be able to receive a small resolution reception from our Scarlets to our wireless "RedMotes? What will REDCast bring to the table?

Thanks again.

I have to agree with Cesar on this (his post #452). I hate to be at all negative as I am a big Red supporter and a customer, but the Red One has a much more practical form factor than the layout in this rendering, however cool looking it is.

the proximity is a bit of an illusion... perspective.
