  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

more renders...

Hey now... Pawel just brought it up the other day, I know others have, including me, at times. :)

It would be a nice option at some point. However, I have yet to find a way to buy those Master Primes, so it's somewhat of a fantasy for me anyway.

Thanks, Jeff. You can borrow mine. That's THREE!!! Jarred, could we say it is locked in?

ha ha ha.. get 1000 of your friends together with some burning pitchforks and then we will talk :)

@JIM

Thank you for the name of your CG 3D render software, i trying hypershop with Maya, really a great soft for design rendering. The easiest render software i ever see, thank you

Sorry to be dense Jim but is that the fixed lens?

I dig this little guy. Is the bottom handle also a battery? Or is it purely optional?

How about a cake? What flavour do you like?

Ha ha ha im still working on those 4 foot long Hershey bars from the Birger incident :)

Got it! What liquid would lubricate the LDS idea, then?

I was looking at the renders of the shoulder rig, and I was just thinking that the placement of the redmote seems odd... in the shoulder configuration it is almost completely blocked by the shoulder pad... Or am I missing something... perhaps there is a better spot where it connects? Well I guess it is wireless, so really it could go anywhere... but just wondering the thought process behind placing it in front of the shoulder pad..?
Thanks for all your hard work guys... I can truly say i've never been this excited about my future before...

Hey, is this the wish-factory?

Hey, is this the wish-factory?

I wish there was a module with a gyroscope in it that recorded position and rotation data along with lens info and either attached it as meta-data to the footage or saved out an .xml file or something that could be brought into 2D and 3D apps. and synced up with the footage.

That way we (vfx artists) could stop trying to unscramble eggs with motion-trackers after the fact.

Is something like that possible?

(btw, I'm doing a color-grading job on Red footage right now. Done. Game over. I'm pulling detail where there shouldn't be any.)

There is the metadata of focal, zoom and other who are register by lense in a small file. You can use this informations in PF track for exemple. After you juste need do do a XYZ tracking.
you should read this about cook and red lense : http://www.cookeoptics.com/cooke.ns...29fc91d22b10c689852573a6006fb847?OpenDocument

Dust...

Dust...

Hi Jim... In order to protect sensor of dust, above all on Scarlet model if we change frequently lenses, have you imagine a system like a small shutter inside we could close when changing lenses ?... Thank you very much for your answer and for these wonderful products....

FG... point taken and well understood.

Jim

Am I really seeing this? Incredible. I've always been amazed by how you do things, but this is exceptional. You really listen.

Nice renders, it makes me thinking this will be the greatest shoulder rigs when they become available.
The 3d rig keeps me thinking how much a mirror rig would still be needed to do professional stereoscopic shooting.
Jim seems to find sollutions for almost all kinds of situations.
I'm still a little supprised they haven't find a way to eliminate the 3d mirror rigs and give us something that might work evenly well, maby usins mirros aswell, but minus the great sizes the rigs provide right now.(if used with s35 and larger primes then the miniprimes red would provide...) giving us 4-5-or 6K if we'd like)

Question,

If anyone is inclined to answer, will RED have ARRI 15mm rod support?

Absolutely... the RED Riser has native Arri 15mm and 19mm support. The two current RED base plates and Arri or Element plates need an inexpensive adapter. I know Element will offer a new base plate for EPIC and Scarlet with 15mm and 19mm Arri standards.

Jim

Any chance of a fixed lens Scarlet render?
I bet I'm not the only one dying to see it, I guess you haven't quite finished it yet though...

I second that and if I am not asking to much - give us it
in full gear: matte box, handles, EVF, etc. Please...

I hate to get schmutz on the buzz, but I wouldn't mind seeing cables on the product renders. Gives them more of a real-world sense. Like I could reach out ... pick it up ... and hit the big red button!
