  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

more renders...

Jim -

If you have a little extra time - can you render me the 617 in a shooting config? Would love to see that!

(Apologies in advance if you have already posted and I missed it - been a bit swamped with projects shooting on that other camera of yours)

Thanks for all the renders. The stuff looks amazing.

I want to touch them.

I haven't seen anyone say it yet, but that new shoulder pad looks amazing. Infinitely better than the dovetail on the RED ONE.

All of these new renders are blowing my mind... I really think you've nailed the design on this one. I know things are subject to change, etc. etc., but I hope they don't change too much! I want one yesterday!

Mark, Jim posted this one earlier.

Agreed. It looks like the slant will be fully adjustable. I wonder if it could be made to work with the Red One with some kind of adapter. If that's the case they could perhaps start building/shipping it earlier. I'm sure every Red One owner would buy one now, knowing they'll also be able to use it later on Epic/Scarlet.

Judging from the renders it looks like you might be able to screw it on to the cheeseplate on the Red One. It wouldn't be very adjustable but still much more comfortable than the current one.

Love the renders! Thanks for all the work on these.

I am still wondering if we're really going to have a glossy black surface our matte. I see it's possible to have a matte surface in the renders so I assume it's a choice you guys are making. True?

Also, from an ergonomic stand point, as a DSLR config it would be great if the surface feel would be more along the lines of my Nikon F4 or F100. I know the brain is a box but the handle attachment could be a bit more molded (for lack of a better term) or formed for hand held use.

With that said I can see this will be more like shooting with a Hasselblad than a Nikon.

Sleep well and thanks again.

How will the modules connect electrically? Cables? Integrated connectors? Wireless?

I'd guess that all the modules connect together kind of like the parts of an Arri Wireless Lens Control System - they clip in and make an electrical connection for power and data with a simple push button to release. No need for pesky wires (God, how I hate wires!)

I have said before how important Jarred is to the RED program. I'll say it again.

Now... good night. Big day tomorrow.

Jim

You know I've said this before, I don't even know Jarred, never met him personally but watching his climb from DVXUser to this really inspires. Shows you what hard work can do. All I can say is congrats, you guys take a bow.

These renders are f*****g incredible. Now when can we see some footage? No expectations only hoping...

Sanjin

Do you always keep your camera mounted like that?

You crazy man..

Us Kalifornians know better with all of our quakes & hippy fur

Richard,

I know it could make you "dizzy" :clown2: ,

but I was "thinking" about lightweight solution with Scarlet or Epic because

as we could see all is front "heavy" just because of the lens.

My question was about RED "interchangeable" mount(s) that we still do not know so much.

PL, Nikon, Canon.

That was also offered with RED1 from the beginning.

My idea is again to push "third party" universal interchangeable mount development

that can get as much lenses as possible to swap on Scarlet or Epic.

If RED would make one like that I would be really HAPPY!!!!!!

On the picture below is one possible lightweight combination with RED1 that has

Angenieux 3x70mm f/3.5 zoom lens, extraordinary still lens zoom (good for FF35),

(Optical construction: 15 elements, 11 groups, Lenght: 179mm, Weight: 780g).

The Origo only gives you on/off.
The Redmote and the Redhandle have all the controls you absolutely need.
The options announced are ok, but you've basically got keep a Redmote stuck to the camera, on the left side, IMHO. It's a shame it'll get moved every time you play with the top rails.

J Jannard chose a new Avatar for me this afternoon- he just didn't get my last one, but I didn't want to let him win, so I changed it to the current one. Not sure if I like this one, though. It's a complex issue.
M

That is the single most compelling avatar I have seen... it took me awhile to get it, but when the light went on, WOW!

Jim

Thanks alot for the renders! Question though. Did you scrap the hdmi output on the output module?! (I can only see SDI) I never use SDI myself, so I hope there are different output modules, for various circumstances.

Just for Mark...

I suggest putting those 360° animations in smaller size on red.com. Screw the bandwidth...

Any chance of a fixed lens Scarlet render?
I bet I'm not the only one dying to see it, I guess you haven't quite finished it yet though...
