  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

more renders...

just wondering what 3d software are you using to render these images 3dmax , maya ?
i know this is a big ask but is there any chance of getting a copy of some to animate ?...even in low res :)

We are using Hypershot for the renders... you want a copy of our CAD files??? Think about that for a second...

Jim

Interesting.
So the Stills/motion slider is on the side of the control box.
Not buried in the menus or assigned to a 'soft button.'

Hey I'd take some cad files,

So Monitor port on top of the brain and one on the back. Then it looks like another on the i/o module. 3, thats pretty swell. I assume that other lemo is the new ac power port, which would mean a hot swap between AC and battery power probably. The current on-board monitors are their current rez and the new ones are higher, is this an in camera setting or does it do some auto detect magic?

Films guys like to grope the camera like its prom night while they have their eye to the viewfinder, as such the power button looks dangerously close to the user buttons on the side grip. Just a thought.

I'm glad to see some more configs that look like the more standard video cameras I'm used too, and not just still configs!

Jim I am curious as to the motivation for the small 12v battery compartments.
RED bricks and AB Bats seem to be doing well.

Do you expect the power requirements of Epic/Scarlet to be a lot less?

Also, are the fans going away?

Thanks in advance,
Your Bud,
Jay

These renders are missing one important feature.
The cables connecting modules :-)
I'm guessing that Red have specially designed cable ties to keep everything under control?
Or are you using a daisy chain system?

Lots of secrets still in the bag...

How will the modules connect electrically? Cables? Integrated connectors? Wireless?

Everything looks absolutely beautiful!

Just wondering...I thought we could use current REDONE accessories with Epic? In the renderings, it looks like a whole new ballgame? I.E. batteries.

Just trying to plan on what to avoid stocking up on now?

Hey JIM - I hear you might be coming to TO for the 50 RED camera Nike shoot. Dress warm!

We aren't sharing every technical detail at this point... still have some competition out there.

Yes to most all current accessories working with EPIC except the top mount and CF recording module. Current RED batteries work just as well as the new ones.

Jim

Thanks for the new renders Mr. Jannard!

From the render included in the specs sticky and the original full brochure, as well as this last render of S35 Scarlet, it seems you get a REDmote with the purchase of any brain. Is this confirmed?

And is there any chance that there might be a wireless FF unit that might be a two piece package consisting of a motor and a FF knob somehow attachable to the REDmotes?

Sorry if my terns are not correct.

If you look at some of the RED exploded views you can see a proprietary data/power/whatever connector that is built into the modules it seems. Much more sturdy than flimsy cables flinging around.
