  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

More HDRx...

Also tell you it's a bit of strange to reply from here just because abot future but nobody asked abot any FUTURE and it's because spoiled views with history an future

Wow, that single shot could save a couple of hours of production time setting up lights and scrims to reduce the range for a regular camera and remove hot spots from the person walking in. I didn't see any hot spots on his shoulder or neck. That's awesome!

Sanjin drunk-browsing the internet again?

We do a lot of interview based videos in small offices. Usually the windows as a background are not an option unless they are already tinted OR it's a very cloudy day. I'm excited about the options the HDRx mode opens for this type of shooting, too. I'm guessing we'll be able to put people in front of windows without huge HMI's blasting them with light.

I apologize in advance if this question was already asked:

When shooting HDRx™ how will the image on the monitor look like?

yup

I'm a bit late on this but it's a great shot.

Also happy that RED (Graeme Nattress) is working with The Foundry to give us the best tools.

100% agreed...thanks Mr. Jannard
Exciting times again...ooops!

If the S35 Scarlet does this, and remains under/at 8 grand...that's a steal and a half! MORE information than 35mm film can capture...isn't this what we've all been waiting for?

Hehe,

that is because I have been testing with HDR with several systems, form Canon to MF bodies in still capture, and even with 5 to 7 exposures some times is hard to get that much detail in dark shadows, never mind in Motion!!

So I really got blown way by seen what they have captured, especially nothing that the images are yet to be taken to Post!!

I can only imagine what can be pulled out of the Sky and some of the outside areas, just literally mind blowing!!

... i can imagine, Ketch!

i used to do this in stills, by painting in several photoshop layers, years back when doing some print catalogues, wooden doors and windows from inside ... hehe ... you wanna see the ambient, the detail in the wood and the garden outside .... i usually took a series of exposures and painted, masked and painted ... lol ...

having this now in MOTION, done for us, with some magic settings to balance things to our taste ... is just pure bliss!

Jim, you are a madman!

1. I bet Nikon and Canon are revving up their HDR efforts the moment they see this.
2. Graeme was already due an Oscar for RedRAW. Now he might be due two Oscars.
3. Did this photo remind anyone else of the scene looking out the door in "The Searchers"?

Tom - looking forwards to seeing what you'll do with HDRx....

Graeme

And keep in mind that THE SEARCHERS was shot on a Vista Vision.

The Searchers

The Searchers

But isn't that an example where you might choose NOT to use HDRx ? The underexposed interior is cleverly used as a way of focusing attention of john wayne - his job is done etc
