  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

More DSMC...

edit: Just realized that the images on the link were shot with the Epic (guess)

This was shot with the Epic 5k Sensor in a RED ONE body...

It was a 2 camera shoot, Greg Directed and shot with one, and I shot the other. Lots of incredible footage.

For a still guy he sure understands Motion...

I'm lost, I thought the RED One couldnt take the 5K because of the internal bits and pieces so could only hit 4.5K

:confused1:

That would be the case if you tried to just exchange the sensor-chip.

I think, they built a whole Epic-X into the body of a RED-ONE because they didn't have the new casing ready and/or everything else surrounding the camera (EVF, LCD, Batterie-Holder... could stay the same). That is just me speculating, though!!

In a nutshell: they ripped the innards out of a poor unsuspecting Red One, and stuffed the innards if the EPIC-X into it. Jim and Jarred then chorused:

"RISE!"

*g*

We used RPP's for the meat and potatoes and also Canon still lenses for a couple long shots and for an ultralight rig... Greg literally has every Canon lens ever made, so with the help of Birger mount it was easy for him to use his exiting kit.. another strongpoint of the whole DSMC program.

And the shots with the Epic 5K sensor where shot in 4.5k... Imran got it right.

Well, after all, a couple of days ago, in another thread, they were talking about the FRANKEN-CAMERA!

Heh heh no worries.. 4.5k Wide is incredibly cool to shoot.. specially in REDCODE 42.

It would sure be great to be able to turn that on to all the existing RED ONE cameras with just a simple firmware upgrade.... A company so close to releasing new cameras would need to be absolutely bonkers to do something like that.

Heh heh heh. Stay Tuned.

Okay:

"SO close to releasing new cameras"- I swear, if I was with you in the same room, Mr Jarred, I would definitely go all "Jack Bauer" on you! WHEN IS IT GOING TO HAPPEN? (with a rough, manly voice). Of course, being aware of your tall and strong build reputation, I would do this with a small army of eager Scarlet buyers with me... :)

And, of course, seems like Red One owners are getting another new update. Lucky b%stards!

We will never forget our Customers.. especially the ones early on that took a leap of faith and purchased a RED ONE camera from a camera company that had no history of making cameras.

Jim has always said he wants people to feel like they get a whole new cameras with firmware updates.. 4.5k and REDCODE 42 hopefully will give many of you guys that new camera feeling.

And that is why I made the leap of faith. One must be able to trust that people are going to be honorable in what they say and do. In the beginning it was just a sense that they were onto something huge. As for a company, RED has been the single best vendor I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and that's not fanboyism, but a simple fact.

Wow! I like the sound of that!
And it won't stop us from upgrading to Epic-X when the time is right... :thumbup1:

Jay stop being a dumbass..If you have a problem with Jim and want to bitch about what he says and how he says it you aren't going to get very many people here to listen...

Hey! Hey! I wanted to take a leap of faith too, but am too poor to do so! I'm no Digital Magic! :)

you guys are moving so fast and furious these days - it used to be a challenge to keep up with everything, but y'all have cranked it up even faster and harder.

have you guys gotten to that "dangerous" point that jim spoke of, awhile back? seems like it....
