  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Monstro with Tokina Vista Lenses

Wath a shallow deep of field! Wasn’t it to hard to focus...? I don’t shoot anymore at 1.5 with my celere lenses since my focus puller begged me to stop!

Haha absolutely! I pulled all this myself, it wasn’t too bad. But I had some time to practice, just did all my own pulling on the Tokina’s for an entire feature on ScarletW.

Sounds like you need a new focus puller ;)

I'm impressed by your cinematography and those lenses. The picture has something interesting in it, something between smooth and defined.

Thanks Patrick! I got to know the lenses quite well over the past year. I tend to use a bit of filtration on the Tokina’s, either LowCon or HBM. There was quite an interesting interview with French cinematographer Denis Lenoir on the wanderingDP. He had some interesting thoughts on how to pick the right filtration. Based on overal sharpness, what you want your highlights to do, contrast and color shifts.
And yes I feel the combination of the Tokina’s and Monstro has something special to it. It’s hard to define. Especially if you watch it projected at at least 4K.

Do you have any link to the interview you point at?

Is it this one?
