So our new upgrade scheduling process seems to be working very well... pumping out an incredible amount of Monstros over the last few weeks. Most of you in line have now been scheduled for your upgrades sometime between now and mid January. If you are an original Dragon VV preorder holder and have not been contacted yet, beep your rep so they can sort you out.

We are now ready to start taking open upgrades / new Monstro orders to be scheduled starting at the end of January. Once you preorder, we'll contact you within a week to schedule your upgrade.

Fill out a simple form to tell us your preferred upgrade start date, and we'll confirm with you once you submit your request. Scheduling is first come, first served, so keep your eyes open for an email from RED or a phone call from your rep or RED Authorized Dealer.

Which means that after I paid my $10,000 deposit to RED at NAB 2015 (and payed $50K for the WEAPON CF), I got lapped by FORGED buyers, STORM TROOPER buyers, PANAVISION DXL, and now NEW ORDERS. It's not all bad: I did get a Helium S35K sensor upgrade to play with this summer. And MONSTRO will be an upgrade to DRAGON. But it is a little rough to get passed again, so close to the finish line...

Seriously-ish , on REDUSER I read so much or glance over so many posts and threads about wait times and wait lists I just literally assumed that anyone that wanted to go out and purchase a Monstro VV 8K weapon would also be put on some list that has an elastic space-time delivery/shipping date? You mean we could place an order for a brand new separate camera(s) (Monstro VV 8k) and the things would ship in under a month? Or even less than ten days? If that is the case I'm totally blown away... Cuz I remember thread starters from Jarred L that showed beautiful "Just baked" Monstro VV sensors , with the notion that there is a bit of a supply and demand issue (for a while). So I thought getting my hands on a 8K monstro VV (Weapon) would be far off (not geological time scale) but like sometime towards the end of next year towards the end of 2018? So really Brand NEW 8K Monstro VV ships in less than ten days?

Not my intention to de-rail the principal "Thrust" of the announcement, sorry to be a bit of a 'Thicky" here depending on what end of stick I may or not have the right end of?

Michael, but Jarred mentioned new orders will start end of January. I see that the store states 3-5 business days, but that might or might not be accurate, given the holidays. I think you should beep your bomb squad if not in line yet, as Jared mentioned.

I might not remember well, but it was similar when I got my Weapon Mg upgrade (or the Helium one ) new orders where up around the same time my camera was called in for upgrade.

I think you really are on a good spot... I wish I had the same option for 10K USD Monstro upgrade

Yes, I could add those to my Weapon Helium, but the issue is not only financial. It’s about the market I am in my country. I so hope there is a way to change the bias of DPs around me from the big grey tank starting with an A

Michael, how were you lapped? Forged always had priority in allocations for VV over woven - been that way since day one. Stormtroopers were not able to schedule upgrades until all NAB pre-orders were given change to schedule upgrade (ie, you). DXL, you are assuming they were not first in line with orders. New orders, we did not start with new orders until every single NAB had opportunity to schedule an upgrade time. And our upgrade lines are full steam ahead.

To be fair, yes, as you said, you got HELIUM as a pretty nice layover, and MONSTRO is a pretty nice consolation prize for the wait... Esp given the fact your $10K is a third of the retail cost for MONSTRO.

Hopefully, all is well that ends well.

Two questions: Is there an upgrade path for Magnesium owners and if so how much? Since the pixel size of the Monstro is the same as Dragon is it safe to assume that at 6K the coverage area will be identical to Dragon?

Same situation as Dragon VV. Mg does not have the horsepower on its internals to accommodate Monstro.

Fair enough. As of now, there is no path, unless you simply want to convert your WEAPON Mg into a WEAPON CF. Which is basically the price difference between the two....

What I would like is the following:
Weapon to monstro
Epic W to Dragon 6K

That way I can everything I want at the two levels of business I operate in. Surely that must be possible even if its a special request?
