  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Monochrome musing - 2k 300fps, 5k 96fps

Great stuff John - if only there was more work demanding the monochrome!
 
There's all kinds of challenges Eric - making stuff pay is just one of them.
Stuff like cutting my own OLPFs and filters, recalibrating lenses for IR focus etc was challenging too ;)

Making images people enjoy is (thank god) the 'easy' part.

I think I'm about to become my own biggest customer for monochrome work - but more on that once things are tied down.
 
Playing with the curves with impunity far beyond what the colour EPIC allows is a drug too... very addictive.

Point of note though - a lot of the 'drama' in these images comes from the custom IR filtration, or at least decent use of coloured front of lens filtration... its not out of the box stuff.

Much as I love the field of view and general look of the Duclos / Tokina 11-16, this camera has got me on a sharpness quest it can't fulfill... Nikon 14-24 should have me covered. Will be interesting to stack it against the best rental prime I can lay my hands on.

Results in IR are not necessarily the same as results in visible light... I'll post more as I learn.
