  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Module Ship Dates....

Oh yeah Jeff...bit of a hassle for sure. Couple of online buys then a drop and pick up at tech workshop...but still works out at the same pricepoint as the purpose made ones from RED. Just another solution, bit if legwork but it's cheaper and easy workaround for them 100%. Also if the pins on the plate are the ones to go and not the Lemo...it's a $50 10minute fix in the future.

my fav epic m owner.. ehehehehe

Problems with that approach:

I already have plenty of quickplates, ET backplates, mounting hardware, whatever... Would really like to order a couple bare v-mount plates that have the proper EPIC connector on them. The 2B to 1B connector is a pain sometimes. The belt clip plate is a more economical compromise, but it has a much longer cable to deal with and still needs the adapter for EPIC.

My experience exactly. It's nice ET exists to pick up the accessories Red chooses not to develop. The separate battery plate made that a lot easier. Maybe the new XLR to 1B cable will enable a third party v-mount that doesn't have multiple connections.

Just saw that the REDmote in the store is listed as "IN STOCK" - is that a typo or will I be getting my email soon?

Still waiting for the Redmote for my Epic-M and I was wondering if the Epic-M owner will receive it before the Epic-X owner?

Its based on order date, so if you received your M before an X owner then yes.

haha...good point. Only Red knows then. Maybe its delivery date, or ship date or...

Ship date. Or more specifically, I think it's the date when the final pro forma invoice is approved and sent to the warehouse for shipping.

Jarred said in another thread or somewhere around here that no a la carte Redmotes are available. They will be allocated to M and Stage-2 customers first.

Don't worry Shawn, we still are selling the accessories with the battery plates and proper connector, just not the raw plates themselves.

You mean the Backpack? Don't get me wrong, it looks cool, but I would prefer to keep my Redmote on the back and put the Red quickplate further back on rods for balance, so I really need to purchase a vmount plate with proper connector asap, this 2B-to-1B connector is both a PITA and another connection point of liability.

Well, if Red don't make a new battery plate available with a 1B connector, I'm sure someone else will. In the meantime if you want a 2B battery plate AbelCine are offering one, for only $14 more than the Red original, and to be truthfull, of a much better build : http://www.abelcine.com/store/Switronix-V-type-RED-Battery-Mount-Plate-w.-Lemo-Connector/

Huh? I'm confused...are you saying you are selling a battery belt clip with a 1B Epic connector?? I tried to order one but was told they don't exist!

Also, I already own the quickplate from my Red1 and just need to put a new vmount plate with 1B connector on it.

why do you want to keep the Redmote on the back? Kind of defeats the purpose of remote camera control, yah? ;)

Actually isnt the M Redmote machined and the X is cast? Pretty sure they are built differently.

The Epic doesn't have any controls on the body itself, so the REDMOTE fulfills this purpose. You don't always need remote control, but you do always need control.

Also, keeping it on the body gives it power. The internal battery doesn't last forever. :)
